Apple’s next-gen iOS and OS X to feature improvements to Photos app

“Apple has been developing the next OS X 10.12 and iOS 10 photo app as the same level as iPhoto 9.6.1 for Mac and iPhoto 2.0.1 for iOS,” Macotakara reports citing “a reliable source.”

“Specific functions etc. are unknown,” Macotakara reports, “but for iPhoto 2.0.1 for iOS, it was possible to use brush correction tracing parts of the photo with a finger and adjusting brightness, flag in addition to favorites, and information edit for editing the photo Exif information, among others.”

Macotakara reports, “The Mac photo app will be improved to the level of iPhoto 9.6.1 for Mac.”

  1. What I have experienced and seen from others is this: everyone takes so many more photos these days and the problem is how to make sense of it all.

Most people do not keyword their photos, or even know how to do that, or want to take the time to do that.

What would be great is a photo app with intelligent recognition. So if I want all of my pictures of a dog, I just search for dog. The software recognizes a dog…doesn’t have to know the name, just the fact that it’s a dog. If I want all of my pictures of flowers, I just type in a search for flowers and voila, I get my pics of flowers, and so forth. Kind of like facial recognition, but for common types of subjects.

    1. What blows me away is Apple’s lack of development in this area. Google Photos does a very good job of what you are describing but Apple, who has been doing this for much longer, cannot?

I understand that most people don’t want to curate their photo collection and that is fine but many of us have been carefully labeling and grouping photos for YEARS and Apple just wants to throw all of that away.

  2. With all the time I spent to organize tens of thousands of photos into events with keywords, it enrages me that Apple would drop iPhoto support and force Photos on people without feature parity. One of many things in the past few years which has dampened my 30-year fondness for Apple.

  3. Yes! Please bring back Events. It made things so much easier. I have to say Photos kinda Sucks. Apple is constantly making great apps stink then taking 2 years to make them great again. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

  4. My workflow for photos, especially on days when I take a lot, is to quickly go over them and rate them: one’s get deleted, two’s are photos of other people that might want them, etc. So I can’t use Photos until that gets fixed.

  5. I just want my photos to sync from my iPhone to my Macbook. Unfortunately only some of the photos would sync. After a few hours of troubleshooting I gave up and stopped using the photos app on osx.
