“In the latest drone flyover video of Apple’s so-called ‘spaceship’ campus, the true scale of the ambitious project has never been clearer,” Trevor Mogg reports for Digital Trends.
“The footage, uploaded to YouTube this week by drone enthusiast Duncan Sinfield, shows that the gargantuan circular structure is moving steadily toward completion, with significant progress made in the last five months alone,” Mogg reports. “The swish new headquarters will become the workplace of some 14,000 Apple employees when it opens its doors toward the end of this year or early next.”
Mogg reports, “Sinfield doesn’t specify what equipment he used for the video, though if it’s the same kit he used for his last spaceship flyover then we’re looking at a DJI Inspire 1 quadcopter with a Zenmuse X3 gimbal and camera.”

What’s up with youtube not allowing any videos to play here anymore?
It plays fine on my ipad …
Plays fine on my PoS laptop!
I’m not having any trouble. But I’m blocking Flash, playing HTML5 video instead.
Flash Free Mac working just fine. If you have click to plugin you can also download it with a right click (from the menu).
All my devices are Flash free.
Click to Flash or Click to Plugin gives you great control over stuff on Safari:

Well, I wonder what the resale value of this would be? Who other than the US govt could use a facility like this?
Refugee housing.
This project has been ongoing for 5 years… Where was this analysis then? Oh, yeah, no one thought this. It was only written now, because THE ENTIRE SMARTPHONE INDUSTRY IS IN DECLINE and Apple is stuck with it. But hey, It’s Apple. Let’s just single them out and write some click-bait hit-piece that the interweb dweebs can rally around.
Wanted to add… Never mind the fact that Apple could fill two more like it with all the employees they’ve hired since then.
I wonder if they will have Tesla busses autonomously moving peeps back and forth to the parking facilities…and beyond?
I sincerely hope they’ve documented the construction. Would be amazing to see from start to finish.
Its a beautiful building.
But…
I rather see perfect implementations of fantastic ideas rather than a fantastic building.
My worst fear is that the spaceship becomes a mausoleum or sad monument to bygone days. It’s the people at Apple that make Apple successful not the architecture.
Amazing scale. I think back to when Steve Jobs presented the plans to the Cupertino Board. The drawings were impressive, however, they no where near conveyed the scale of this complex. Next thing you know Apple will reveal they have been really constructing a spaceship. 😉
Actually, it’s a Reality Distortion Field Generator.
It will make a nice mall someday. Wonder if it will have an Apple Store…
If the AT&T San Ramon Valley Administrative Center (SRVAC) were a ring, it’s of a similar scale, though smaller. 4 stories, 1/2 mile from end-to-end. Air-cooled with ice cubes made from frozen lake water at night (when energy is cheap). Once housed 8,000 employees – now is subdivided with extra wings rented to other businesses .

Love the style of the building. Looks kind of like a 21st century Pentagon.
white elephant, boondoggle, call it what you may…this will not be Apple’s finest hour
I think this is the first video I’ve seen with a significant number of construction workers on-site. Most of the time, the drone flights take place very early in the morning or after construction shuts down late in the afternoon.
Will Apple have an open house before they close the doors due to secrecy? It would be nice to take a look around.
