Piper Jaffray: Apple will unveil new Apple Watch ‘S’ model at March event

“Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster believes the Apple Watch will get a hardware upgrade at Apple’s rumored March 15 event,” Jake Smith reports for ZDNet. “”

“In a research note sent to clients, obtained by Business Insider, Munster said on Tuesday the internal components such as the processor and battery will be given an update, but to not expect the look of the wearable to change,” Smith reports. “‘Apple Watch: expect more of an ‘S’ version with similar design, upgraded components including processor[,] battery, new band styles. Unlikely to have a wireless radio, which would allow standalone (i.e. decoupled from iPhone),’ Munster wrote.”

Smith reports, “If Apple unveils a new Apple Watch in March, it may mean Apple will have an annual upgrade cycle for the iPhone and sometimes iPad.”

  1. Wait a minute, MDN hates Business Insider. Why are you reporting their unimaginative rumors?

Or does MDN simply regurgitate whatever tabloid fodder it wants to hear?

I really wish that MDN would put some effort into ranking the accuracy of analysts and rumor mongers. You constantly rail against them all, but you post them all indiscriminately as clickbait without guiding your readers to the best information.

      1. Better the Bern than the Trump/Cruz. One is an egomaniac who is widely disliked and has delusions of brilliance. The other is an egomaniac who is widely despised with delusions of his rightness in all things. Neither one has a realistic hope of actually being elected President.

I just wish that the GOP could find better candidates and mellow a bit towards the moderate middle. This far religious right stuff has to end.

        1. iCal’d because you are so friggin’ stupid, QueenMel, as to believe that socialistuckwit Bernie Fruckanders has any hope of getting elected as president.

Cruz all the way. I hope he takes total US traitors like YOU and makes you live in socialist paradise at Bernie’s house.

    1. MDN exists to aggregate Apple related news, add snarky comments, monetize the articles with ads, and provide a vehicle for a robust comments section for its readers. It has never professed to have a responsibility to sort the wheat from the chaff. Its primary interest is in your viewing their ads, so the quality of the news content is of little concern.

  2. If my apple watch doesn’t have a wireless radio, then how does it receive and send iMessages at the gym when I leave my iPhone at home? The answer is wifi! This A-hole doesn’t know the first thing about it.

  3. Maybe “S” stands for “software” as in fixing all the apps that don’t work consistently. Namely Remote, Photo Viewfinder and duplicate Calendar notifications. When it works it’s great, I don’t need more speed, just quality software Apple.
