“There are teenagers who see him as another Einstein, the man who unlocked their technological dreams with Apple’s — that is, Jobs’ — iPhones, iPads and Macs,” Leopold writes. “There are colleagues who see him as a harsh taskmaster who, nonetheless, helped drive them to create their best work. And there are loved ones and rivals who see him as selfish, evasive, distant and cruel.”
“He was, as director Alex Gibney’s film Steve Jobs: The Man in the Machine shows, whatever you wanted to see,” Leopold writes. “CNN Films’ “Steve Jobs: The Man In The Machine” airs Sun. Jan. 3 at 9 p.m. ET on CNN.”

MacDailyNews Take: Gibney’s Steve Jobs: The Man in the Machine, which Apple VP Eddy Cue called “inaccurate and mean-spirited,” has been widely panned by those who knew the real Steve Jobs.
If you’re going to waste your time, know going in that this is just another hit-piece.

The hagiography begins at least a generation after the saint dies and everyone’s memories of him/her are transmuted. Until then, the bloom is off the rose, and these writers and producers can dare to defile.
Why oh why? Look I’ve been using Macs since the early nineties (and I’ve got a brand new 27″ iMac to set up) but how many people are going to watch something about someone who was the head of a tech company. Steve was an extremely enigmatic person and Apple is way different, but are there enough people who would watch or go to the movies to make these biopic/dramas a financial winner? I wonder, I really wonder.
If there was a questionable death or murky government involvement or a femme fatale who was a spy then by all means go for it.
Now back to that iMac. I love a new mac but oh the set-up is so disruptive but it’s not a waste of time.
Disruptive? I’ve been using SuperDuper for my backups for years, and all I have to do when setting up a new Mac is to hookup the external drive and transfer all my info over, once I’ve done the initial stuff. Now if you decide to start from scratch it might be more time consuming.
Or use Migration Assistant. It’s free and already built in.
The Mac setup is disruptive??? Perhaps you’d be happier with a Windoze Nightmare PC.
Updating software is disruptive. Being offline for some time is also disruptive. Having my Mac running the way I want it to run is also disruptive (i.e. tweaking the OS).
It does take time to have a Mac running the way you want it to run than the default way Apple wants you have it running. I hope that clarifies my use of the term “disruptive”.
