FireCore releases Infuse 4 for the new Apple TV

FireCore’s James Abeler today announced the release of Infuse 4 for the new Apple TV:

When Apple first announced the new Apple TV in September we couldn’t help but do a little happy dance. A powerful new device with an official App Store – what more could we ask for? There was just one thing missing – a great way to enjoy videos without having to jump through any silly hoops like converting or transcoding.

Well, the wait is over, and the all-new version of Infuse for the new Apple TV has arrived. We’ve taken many of the same great features we perfected in Infuse for iOS and reimagined them for the big screen. The end result is a beautiful, powerful, and simple way to enjoy a wide array of videos on the Apple TV.

And now, without further ado, we give you Infuse 4 for Apple TV.

Infuse supports a massive array of video types, and is the only player on Apple TV that allows movies to be heard the way they were meant to be, with full support for Dolby (AC3) and DTS audio…with surround sound passthrough of course.

Point Infuse at where your videos are stored and it will get to work cataloging your movies, TV shows, and other videos in seconds – adding all pertinent details and artwork along the way.

Start watching a movie on your iPad, then finish it on your TV – Infuse will keep everything in sync, automatically.

Wherever your media is stored, Infuse can stream it. That includes a Mac, PC, NAS, wireless drive, or a server app like Plex, Kodi, or Serviio. Any local devices will be detected in seconds making setup a snap.

    1. It depends on what you’re using it for. There’s a free version, but the pro version is well worth the $10 if you can make good use out of it.

Another player for the ATV4 to consider would be Plex. Each one has it’s own strengths and weaknesses (Plex is more expensive, but worth it if you make full use out of it).

They advertise that Infuse works with a Plex server, and it does, but only local, or remote through a local server… and I’m not sure why one would do this since Plex is available on the ATV4/iPhone/iPad/Mac/PC/Android/etc…

    2. I used it for a long time on my atv2.

The problem wAs that my atv2 struggled to play HD content. Anything 720p or better was jittery. But that’s atv problem not FC.

The software was awesome. And worked quite well. I bought an atv3 hoping that FC would one day be able to hack it. But, they never could.

So, I ended yup running Xbmc on a Mac mini for a few years.

I suspect th product for the new atv is vastly different than any previous version. Especially sinc xbmc changed their name.

Previously FC was a hack into ATV. Now it’s an app. An it’s sure to be a much better experience.

Download it. You have everything to gain and only a few hours to lose.

  1. Just downloaded after this review. Easily the most compatible atv4 player so far…. Even plays 4K video via dlna from the nas. Down sampled to 1080p unfortunately though.
