CIRP: Android users upgrading to Apple iPhone at unprecedented rate

“Apple is stealing users from rival Android in record numbers, according to a new report from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners,” Joey Jackson reports for RCR Wireless News.

“The report found 26% of consumers who bought the iPhone 6s in the first month it was released were former Android users,” Jackson reports. “That is up 12% from last year and 23% since the launch of the iPhone 5s in 2013, according to the study.”

The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus launch attracted a greater percentage of Android owners compared to a year ago. This says a little more about the very hot iPhone 6 and 6 Plus launch, which motivated more iPhone upgrades than in previous years. The share of buyers coming from the Android platform for this launch more resembles the long-term trend in Android and iOS switching. — Mike Levin, partner and co-founder of CIRP

MacDailyNews Take: A once-confused world awakens. Again.

Google’s going to rue the day they got greedy by deciding to try to work against Apple instead of with them.MacDailyNews, March 9, 2010

Android is an inferior, unprofitable knockoff peddled to cheapskate tech illiterates who do not value their privacy and/or who are so blind as to be unable to recognize a half-assed fake from the revolutionary original.

Here’s what Google’s Android looked like before and after Apple’s iPhone:

  1. i would love to see the compression of every version of the iPhone vs the next since inception,

my guess is the first year would be in the grass

like we seem to be with the watch

  2. I have been due for an upgrade for the last few upgrades but I don’t want a larger phone than the 5. I’ve heard rumors they may go back to a 5 size model with the iPhone 7? I hope so. I’m going to have to upgrade at that point regardless of the size.

  3. iPhone now has more carries in more countries so it’s easier for people to switch. The larger sizes also look impressive. Apple had been concentrating on more important, but unseen improvements. People are starting to care about their privacy. Now that Blackberry and MS are all but dead Android users have no where else to switch to. There are people who see friends using four year old iPhones with little problems compared to their two year Androids.

  4. “Stealing Android users in record numbers”? Stealing? Are you kidding me? People are becoming as smart as their smart phones and they know they got taken in for buying junk throw-aways.
