“It’s that time of the year where companies are banking on frenzied shoppers to open their wallets and (hopefully) send a little monetary love their way,” Chris Neiger reports for The Motley Fool. “And this holiday season, a few analysts think shoppers will do just that for the Apple Watch.”
“Drexel Hamilton analyst Brian White said in a research note that, ‘We believe this holiday could be the inflection point for the Apple Watch, driving an acceleration in the adoption rates in 2016 and beyond,'” Neiger reports. “White bases his views for Apple Watch demand on the IBM Watson Trend app, which predicts holiday shopping trends and gives them scores raging from 0 to 100. The Apple Watch scored a 100, which White takes as a sign demand for the device will spike this holiday season, and he’s not the only one. An FBR & Co. analyst, Daniel Ives, predicts that Apple could sell 6 million Watches in the December quarter, bringing total sales for the year to 12 million.”
“Of course, if these predictions pan out, it would be great for Apple. But investors should also remember that even if Apple doesn’t meet these expectations, the Apple Watch is already poised for long-term growth,” Neiger reports. “According to Canalys, Apple has already shipped nearly 7 million watches since its launch, which would put the company ahead of wearable sales from all of its competitors combined, over the past five quarters. ”

Such a BOLD prediction! 😉
May all the Apple Watch “giftees” own (or soon own) iPhones…
LOL, rather than buy those overpriced watch with Kool AID, we prefer buy microsoft band, it great with clock and health assistant…
Nice to see that MS is now paying trolls to post like Samsung does. It is safe to assume that most of these posts are made from iPhones.
Apple Watch is garbage, choose Microsoft Band instead
Seriously??!! Bahahaha
Apple Watch – Most popular product this Xmas has to be a flop.
Hahahahaha
Yes, even the Apple product that the irrational Apple haters point to as THE “flop” is (in the real world) a HUGE success. 🙂
What’s this–Microsoft trolls? I guess the “peace and good will” gesture in that Christmas carol commercial was just bull. Or are these kids freelancing?
Wow, even if it only did 10 million, that’s still much faster than the iPod which took 3 years to hit that mark. The iPhone hit 10 million just before the 2 year mark. It could conceivably beat the iPad.
Suckers!
On my last visit to the States in October, I visited the Local Apple Store a few times to buy stuff and not once did I see anyone looking at or buying the AppleWatch. I am not trolling as I am a huge Apple fan since 1989.
In my more recent (than your) visits to the Apple Store, I’ve seen plenty of interest. October is a bit before the “holiday season,” which is the topic of this story.
Also, during this holiday shopping season, Apple’s own retail stores are mostly maintaining retail prices (which is normal). But Apple is letting its retail “proxies” (Target, Best Buy, etc.) promote the special deals on Apple Watch (and some other Apple products like iPad). They’re competing with each other for sales and are doing a great job, without Apple having to pay for that marketing. THAT is where a large percentage of this “surge” in volume is coming from, not from Apple Stores.
I think Apple Watch is overpriced and it doesn’t pair with other new or older iDevices like older iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches.
You need Apple’s latest iPhone 6 only.
Why?…
I just purchased an iPad Pro. Why doesn’t this brand new iDevice have the ability to pair and sync with the Apple Watch?
Why did Apple not allow pair and syncing of its watch across ALL new iDevices and even on older iDevices that can run the latest and greatest iOS?
Maybe some of us don’t want an espensive phone just to, primarily, make calls.
And I use both my iPads and my iPod Touch more than I use my Cheapo Android phone.
I would like the options to pair an Apple watch to any iOS devices that I happen to using in the moment if I choose.
NOT forced to have to purchase the more expensive Apple smart watch and HAVE NO CHOICE but to purchase a more expensive iPhone at the same time!
I don’t get Apple sometimes. I have a brand new iPad Pro and iPod Touch with no way to use their overpriced watch even if I really wanted one!
I am more of an iPad user rather than an iPhone user. That is why I purchased the cheaper, but closer iPhone spec’d 6th gen iPod Touch.
I get a great majority of iPhone 6 functionailty (minus the purposely left out iWatch functionality) for half the price of an iPhone!
For these reasons, I just purchased the Pebble smartwatch that has iOS apps that work across ALL iOS devices with, at least, iOS 8.1 installed.
The pricing is much more reasonable for this type of device.
So, I can pair the Pebble on any of my older iPads and my new iPod Touch, now.
This is what Apple should have done.
Can’t wait to get my Pebble Watch and start using it with all of my Apple devices of choice.
🙂
