“Future iOS and perhaps Mac OS X devices may allow you to control some user interface elements with your eyes,” Dennis Sellers reports for Apple World Today. “Apple has been granted (another) patent (number 9,189,064) with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office for ‘delay of display event based on user gaze.'”
“The invention involves methods and systems of delaying the execution of a display event based on a detected user gaze,” Sellers reports. “For example, an autocorrect algorithm can automatically replace a typed word with a corrected word in a text field, generating a display event that causes the corrected word to be displayed instead of the typed word.”
“This isn’t the first patent by Apple for gaze technology technology,” Sellers reports. “In 2013, the company was granted a patent (number 20130135198) electronic device may have gaze detection capabilities that allow the device to detect when a user is looking at the device.”

Interesting.
But, as people have pointed out before, patents indicate “future devices” in a similar way to how putting on shoes mean you are going to kick someone. Maybe you are, and maybe the wearing of shoes is a hint, but it could just be that you are going for a walk.
Patents are about saying “hey, we figured out how to do something new, and we’d like to make sure that no one else can do it without our permission.”
They also say: “we’ve got a bunch of patents, so we can often find one that someone else is violating if that entity tries to say we are violating one of theirs, then we can work out a deal instead of losing a bunch of money.”

When I posted that I did this with a TRS-80 Color computer, in 1979, and that, I thought that would be BETTER THAN using a mouse, NOT ONE positive response was given !!!!
It’s WAY PAST the time when the mouse is replaced. WHEN where the First mice, used with computers? 1984-5 ish? I’ve have just about enough of this shit. Now I’m gong to say…. FORGET eye tracking. You can right NOW use brain wave detection instead of a mouse, or eye tracking…. Well.. any positive responses to THAT ?
