Apple’s cash mountain enough to buy every major sports team in the world – with $60 billion left over

“Apple last week delivered yet another stellar earnings report,” Yoni Heisler reports for BGR. “By the time Apple’s October quarter came to a close, the company found itself sitting on a cash hoard worth $206 billion, a figure that’s higher than the GDP of many countries.”

“With $206 billion, Apple could theoretically afford to give every single person in the United States (assuming a population of 318.8 million) $646, effectively the cost of a brand new iPhone,” Heisler reports. “Even more interesting is that Apple has enough cash to buy every single team from every major sports league in the world.”

Heisler reports, “Adding everything together, Apple has enough cash to purchase every major sports team in the world and still have $59.7 billion in cash left over to play with.”

How it all tallies up in the full article here.

MacDailyNews Take: Boy, that kind of change left over could also easily buy you the 49 richest professional golfers (and one caddie) ever – including Arnie, Jack and Gary!

  1. think about it now.. Especially if they re-patriate all their overseas cash (assuming a sensible tax policy could be worked out).. Who would be able to buy as much CONTENT for entertainment purposes as they chose to or just pay to have it produced by buying 4 major production studios and hiring the best talent to do what they do. Comcast which contains NBC/Universal and much more, Paramount and a few others would be easy to buy for under 170 billion. That would give them a corner on a huge library of content. The SEC might not like it.. .but they could afford it.
