Apple’s new iPhone 6s/Plus sell out in minutes in Samsung’s backyard

“Apple’s two new smartphones stirred a fresh craze among South Korean consumers on Monday as pre-orders sold out in the first few minutes of opening on the back of strong demand from Apple loyalists,” Jack Purcher reports for Patently Apple.

“According to a new Korean report today, “South Korea’s three mobile carriers — SK Telecom Co., KT Corp. and LG Uplus Inc. — received pre-orders for the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus earlier in the day ahead of the official launch in the domestic market on Friday,” Purcher reports. “KT said pre-orders surpassed 10,000 within the first one minute after it opened the online site, and it closed the applications less than 10 minutes later as the first 50,000 units set aside for pre-orders were all sold out.”

“KT began its second round of online purchase reservations from 10:30 a.m., the company said, adding that it’s also selling them at offline stores,” Purcher reports. “‘We’re getting an amazing response. We expected to take at least 30 minutes to sell the first 50,000. There was notably a huge demand for the rose gold,’ an official at KT said.”

  1. Because SamPOSstupid is known by everyone as a good for nothing lying stealing cheating POS company. Even the SK buying public knows it. How embarrassing for Samsh*t. 😀

  2. I am here in Tokyo for some R&R (Research & Relaxation – LOL!). All you see here is iPhone 6. Went to one of those giant electronic and appliance stores in Akihabara. Apple has a large store-in-store in prime real estate on the First floor. They were packed.

  3. I am currently in Japan for some R&R (Research & Relaxation – LOL!). All you see around here is iPhone 6S …everywhere! Went to Yodabashi Camera, the giant electronic-appliance stores in Akihabara. Inside, Apple has a large store-in-store in prime real state – first floor. It was packed. But that is just the appetizer. DoCoMo had the main circulation aisle bannered with iPhone 6S signs every 15′ or so for the entire length of the aisle. Add all the rest: SoftBank, Y!mobile, and KIDDI (au), all pushing the iPhone 6S hard; it all boiled down to an Apple love feast, the likes of which, I’ve never seen in the States. Now there was a much smaller Samsung Galaxy store; well manned with 6+ employees, literally twiddling their thumbs. Never saw anybody in about the 3 hours I spent in the store. Even felt sorry for the lads – Not!

Out on the streets and in the Metro; again, it is all iPhones that you see. Don’t know what the iPhone market share is in Japan, but it just feels as utter domination. Wow!
