6 reasons why I couldn’t live without Apple’s 3D Touch ever again

“When I first unboxed my iPhone 6s Plus, I wasn’t completely sold on 3D Touch. For the first day or two, I had to keep reminding myself to use it,” Allyson Kazmucha writes for The App Factor. “Now, only seven days in, there are certain everyday tasks that I can’t imagine performing any other way than with the help of 3D Touch.”

These are my absolute favorite implementations:
• Trackpad text selection
• Safari link previews
• Reading entire text messages with Peek and Pop
• Accessing multitasking, no Home button required
• Searching Photos.app
• New Safari tabs

“I use 3D Touch for other kinds of actions but these are the ones I’m finding indispensable and immensely useful. In some instances, they’ve completely changed how I use and interact with certain apps,” Kazmucha writes. “That’s certainly the case in terms of the Photos app and how I sift through my pictures now.”

“I can’t imagine going back to life without 3D Touch,” Kazmucha writes. “I’ve even caught myself trying to hard press the screen on my iPad Air 2 and expecting it to come to life. I can’t wait for the feature to come to the Air as it will be reason enough for me to upgrade.”

Each of the six points above discussed in detail with screenshots, in the full article here.

MacDailyNews Take: 3D Touch is indispensable. It’ll be interesting to see how many Apple patents Alphabet, Samsung, etc. infringe on their way to their latest piss-poor approximation in their quest to peddle pretend iPhones to the unthinking undiscerning.

  1. In three years it will be on all their phones, and most likely iPads too. The iPad may just get the Pencil and that will be a difference between the iPad and iPhone. Imagine if they all got both. It will take Android phones years to catch up. They still haven’t got 64bit out in any significant numbers yet. Their fingerprint scanners are beyond a joke. Now all iPhones and most iPads have both 64bit and TouchID. I wonder how much TouchID, 3D Touch, and Pencil need 64bit to make them work well. I know everyone was complaining for years about Apple not having a large screen and battery. I think the benefits of Apple putting their resources in 64bit first are paying off. The great thing is 3DTuch is something people can feel and see work when comparing phones. It can be used on several apps. You don’t have to explain it.
