“Ok so I’ve been creating a bit of a fuss over this, but after writing to the CEO of Barclays Retail Banking in the UK, Ashok Vaswani, I got quite a swift reply back confirming their plans to launch in the new year,” Mike Jobson blogs.
We have signed up for ApplePay [sic] and will launch it very early in the New Year. We truly value your custom and hope that you continue to bank with us particularly since we are launching this shortly. — Ashok Vaswani, Barclays Retail Banking CEO

Barclays dragging their feet, hoping that their own less than stellar contactless solution will gain traction; with customers that matter, those with iPhones, they will lose customers from this crucial segment.
Canada has a population the size of California and 3 banks listed in the world’s top 50 banks. Apple Pay is still kept out of Canada by our greedy banks and won’t open their doors to Apple.
I have a Barclaycard and they keep sending me the stupid mini card you are meant to affix to the back of your phone to make contactless payment with a Barclaycard work.
Stupid idea. I keep tearing them up and throwing them away as I have an iPhone 6 with Apple Pay built in.
Barclays is a pompous bank that is in back tracking mode. I advise all customers to change banks IMMEDIATELY.
I view them not just as pompous, but downright evil. They do lots of business in countries with poor human rights records, and happily cause misery all over the world in order to make a quick profit. No bank is perfect, but Barclays are terrible.
I left Barclays to Lloyds over year ago after they grossly mishandled an account.
In retrospect probably the best thing that they’ve done.
Dont get me started on Barclays bank, legaised tieves they are, switced tio Santander Bank and much better
