Beleaguered Samsung tries to peddle Galaxy phones to people queuing outside Apple Store for iPhone 6s/Plus launch

“Outside the Apple Store on Regent Street, Apple fans queuing up to get their hands on the new iPhone 6S shivered in the cold September morning light, clutching bright blue blankets reminiscent of the blue T-shirts Apple staff often wear at Apple launches,” David Gilbert reports for The International Business Times.

“The blankets, bottles and pillows had been handed out by a dozen or so people wearing blue jackets with the #NextIsNew slogan. When asked where they were from, one representative told IBT they came from a marketing company called Iris and were filming a video about the queue,” Gilbert reports. “When asked who had hired Iris to carry out the work, the representative said he didn’t know. A quick search reveals that Iris is a global marketing company which counts Samsung as a client, having worked with the South Korean brand during London Fashion Week.”

Gilbert reports, “Samsung has also previously used the #NextIsNew hashtag when it launched the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+.”

  1. “Samsung, eat shit and die, then perpetually roast in hell.”

Which is what Tim Cook should’ve told those thieving dog-eaters years ago just before he pulled his processor fabrication and display orders.

    Grow a pair, Tim!

  2. Samsung will use the footage they captured in their next commercial for a Galaxy device launch. A crowd of people sitting camped on the sidewalk with #NextIsNew blankets on their shoulders will make it look like they’re camped out for whatever Galaxy device Samsung is launching with the #NextIsNew slogan. Watch for it. There’s no other reason Samsung would pay a global marketing company to stage this scene and film it.

  3. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Samsung is clearly on the defensive. In 2012, Wall Street bet heavily on Samsung to take over the smartphone industry but lost decisively. Apple is in a great position to put Samsung away for good in the smartphone business but probably won’t do it.

  4. Apple could use the same stunt at the next Samedung product release, except, nobody lines up for their crap… I hope these folk took the blankets and pillows home with their new iPhones…
