The second official trailer for Universal Pictures’ Steve Jobs biopic has been unveiled.
Set backstage at three iconic product launches and ending in 1998 with the unveiling of the iMac, Steve Jobs takes us behind the scenes of the digital revolution to paint an intimate portrait of the brilliant man at its epicenter.
Steve Jobs is directed by Academy Award winner Danny Boyle and written by Academy Award winner Aaron Sorkin, working loosely from Walter Isaacson’s sleep-inducing biography of the Apple founder. The producers are Mark Gordon, Guymon Casady of Film 360, Scott Rudin and Academy Award winner Christian Colson.
Michael Fassbender plays Steve Jobs, the visionary founder of Apple, with Academy Award-winning actress Kate Winslet starring as Joanna Hoffman, former Macintosh marketing chief. Steve Wozniak, who co-founded Apple, is played by Seth Rogen, and Jeff Daniels stars as former Apple CEO John Sculley. The film also stars Katherine Waterston as Chrisann Brennan, Jobs’ ex-girlfriend, and Michael Stuhlbarg as Andy Hertzfeld, one of the original members of the Apple Macintosh development team.
Steve Jobs opens October 9th.

I thought the trailer was really great.
I think it looks excellent and worthy of Sorkin having his name on the credits(assuming the full movie is as good as the trailer). I’m no idoliser, which is why I appreciate this script showing Steve who he was, warts and all. Not sure about the writing for Woz yet, but I’m stoked to see the movie (even after watching scores of hours of Steve interviews, documentaries, etc)
It looks like the writer of this movie actually “gets it” on a level that no other tech or Steve Jobs biopic has yet. Even Pirates of Silicon Valley felt, in places, like it was written by somebody who didn’t actually know what all of the words mean.
It’s fine, I will go see it too.
But in my honest opinion, I would love to see a “season-like” take on his life, I want to see episodes of events detailing his life. Not a documentary, rather, well acted out episodes, showing the natural progression of his many life’s accomplishments. Now that would be insanely great.
That would be a great idea for a Netflix original series. Like a planned 3-season 12 episodes/season show that tells the story of Jobs’ life and legacy like no 2-3 hour movie can. I’d binge watch the hell out of that.
I’m going to see the movie no matter what. The trailer did show the movie as being a pressure-filled stress fest. I like that in a film.
I still don’ buy it. I think they didn’t get it right, something still missing. Is like if they are telling us what we already read on the news and they are giving it a twist making it appear unreal.
Jobs was greater than that, here applies the saying “reality overcomes fiction” because Jobs life was a lot bigger of what those guys are trying to tell us.
My favorite is still Pirates of Silicon Valley. Not sure I like Michael Fassbender as Steve Jobs.

Can’t wait to see it, but I still can’t get over the fact that Fassbender looks and sounds nothing like Jobs.
Even if Jobs had been gone a lot longer, and his visual presence had faded from our minds, you’d still want some aesthetic fidelity. Jobs just left us, and the world hung on every word and every gesture.
Having a hard time suspending disbelief.
My wife asked why Jobs had blond hair.
Meh. While this might be a good movie, I still can’t get past the fact that the actor playing Steve Jobs doesn’t look a damn thing like him. The trailer is just full of a bunch of quick soundbites. Nothing really useful.

About 99.999 percent of Apple owners/lovers never knew Steve Jobs. What they believe they know largely comes from Steve in videos and interviews. An accurate movie which explores his private persona will appear false when it isn’t.
Fassbender seems to have done it right. Bale would have been good as an imitation of the Steve Jobs we think we knew, but that limits the truth. Sam Shepard was great as pilot Chuck Yeager in The Right Stuff decades ago, largely because he was NOT like the real Chuck Yeager. Fassbender seems to have brought to the role, in this preview, qualities which a “lookalike Steve” would not.
Will see it in a theater because the Apple presentations took place in theaters. Boyle directed the movie to give us the feeling of being at the original locations.
