“Apple on Wednesday made its updated iCloud storage plans active, improving some tiers while eliminating another and leaving the free default plan unchanged,” Roger Fingas reports for AppleInsider.
“The free tier remains locked at 5 gigabytes, but the $0.99 option has been upgraded from 20 gigabytes to 50, and the 200 gigabyte tier is now a dollar less per month at $2.99,” Fingas reports. “A 500-gigabyte plan has been eliminated, although the cost of the 1 terabyte tier is down $10 to $9.99.”
“Anyone using 500 gigabytes is being migrated to 1 terabyte automatically, despite the extra cost,” Fingas reports. “Subscribers willing to sacrifice can downgrade to 200 gigabytes.”

MacDailyNews Take: Yes, lo and behold, this morning our old $9.99/mo. 500MB iCloud Storage Plans now have 1TB capacity for the same $9.99/mo.
[Thanks to MacDailyNews Reader “Lynn Weiler” for the heads up.]
Thank goodness: I had a whopping 5 GB left on my 500 GB account. 70,000 photos and 5,000 videos take some room!
Wait a minute. What happened to the 200 gb size?
I have that one, and it’s still available. 200 GB was previously $3.99 and now it has been lowered to $2.99.
OK. That’s better. Forgot it was originally $3.99.
Not fair. That’s still $2.99
Don’t worry, someday 200 GB will be free and 1 TB will be $0.99.
No 2 factor authentication support, therefor no deal for me. Forget it Apple.
What?! Apple has had two-factor authentication for a long time now. What are you even talking about?
1. Log into iCloud.com
2. Settings > Manage Apple ID
3. Password and Security
4. Two-factor authentication right at top of page
Or you can use iCloud preferences on the Mac as an entry point. Click on Account Details, then the Security tab and look for the two-factor authentication section.
You guys should know that 2 factor auth is only available in selected countries. Not everybody are living in US.
Thanks for negative votes, but that does not solve the problem.
Mine still shows 20gb, not 50.
