“The new Apple Watch Hermès, which goes on sale 5 October, is clearly the most interesting news from Cupertino,” Jess Cartner-Morley, fashion editor, reports for The Guardian. “In the story of fashion-tech partnerships, that of Apple with Hermès, home of the Birkin bag, is the most glamorous couple to date.”
“The original Apple Watch is a good-looking watch, but the Hermes Cape Cod is more elegant, more refined. This watch is Hermès on the outside, Apple on the inside,” Cartner-Morley reports. “Look at the slightly deco font of the numerals, the lozenge-shaped face, stirrup-style connection to the leather strap, the second hand in Hermès’ signature orange. The price for the double-strap version (which is The One) is $1,250 (£808), which is considerably less than you’d pay for a non-Apple Watch original Hermès Cape Cod. A bargain? Well, bear in mind that internally this is an Apple product, and unlike luxury watches, Apple products do not last for decades.”
Apple Watch “was glitchy, in a first-generation way,” Cartner-Morley reports. “I roadtested it, and while I loved how it looked, after a while I found I didn’t use it for much more than a watch, because the maps and the weather took so long to load that I would give up and get my phone out of my bag.”
MacDailyNews Take: Fixed with watchOS 2 which will be available to the general public beginning Wednesday, September 16th as a free software update.
“The new Hermès aesthetic and association certainly makes the watch more beautiful, and more desirable,” Cartner-Morley reports. “Hermès has just announced its own launch of the watch on 4 October, during Paris Fashion Week: we will report back from that.”

MacDailyNews Take: The new Apple Watch Hermès is simply gorgeous.
Can’t figure out the point of a strap that goes around the wrist one too many times in order to get in the way of the watch……
I want that clock face. Way better than Utility I am using. Hope that is not just for Hermes. Looks so much nicer than round I think.
That watch face is for the Apple Watch Hermès line only.
This is a very smart move for both Apple and Hermes. Hermes doesn’t have to risk hundreds of millions developing (over a two to 5 year period) an Apple Watch competitor, instead they get a custom case from Apple with Apple Watch guts, add a Hermes watch face and wristband and ~$800 to the Apple Watch price. I’d buy this before I’d even consider the Apple Watch Sport.
Kinda like the HP iPod…
Remember that?
(HP / INVENT – or not)

Beauty is clearly in the eye of the beholder.
Ronin………….You need a style transfusion.
This watch will sell better than hot cakes.
I’m smiten.
It makes the new iPad Pro seem kinda inexpensive by comparison
A tiny pice of leather, just small bit of hide. One has to question the conceit of people who would spend that much money on processed bovine epidermis, and the narcissism of those that promote this extravagance.
The AppleWatch Herpès collection. So Twink Cook.
Apple’s persona described so perfectly. Take something meant to be purely practical, give it a stupid name, and charge over a $1,000 for it. Incredible.
Chill Fred, you don’t have to buy anything they produce, so no need to show hatred of those that do, I certainly feel no need to feel animosity towards you for not having my preferences. In fact Im rather glad.
