The Android bubble bursts as Europeans flock to Apple’s iPhone

“Grim tidings for Android in Europe as this morning’s Kantar Worldpanel ComTech data for the three months ending July 2015 tells us “27 percent of smartphone buyers across Europe left Android for iOS,” maintaining this year’s trend,” Jonny Evans writes for Computerworld. “Europe seems wide open to the next iPhone.”

“The analysis suggests that smartphone users in mature markets are more willing to migrate to iOS from Android,” Evans writes. “Android continued to bleed users across the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain.”

“Carolina Milanesi, chief of research at Kantar Worldpanel ComTech… warns market watchers not to ignore the significance of any iPhone 6 or 6 Plus price changes when Apple does upgrade its device. Last time Apple upgraded its devices and cut prices on existing models it made a huge difference to market share. ‘In the US, 32 percent of the overall sales of the iPhone 5S were generated after the launch of the iPhone 6,’ the analyst warns,” Evans writes. “If you are a security-conscious Android user hoping to switch to a new iPhone when new models appear then you’re in luck – Apple has provided or is providing a range of tools and services to help you achieve this.”

MacDailyNews Take: The only Android fanboys are those who’ve never really used an actual iPhone. The direction of the tide is clear.

After all, if it’s not an iPhone, it’s not an iPhone.

    1. There is no iPhone China slowdown. China’s mobile networks are transitioning from 2.5G to 4G, a huge catalyst for sales of high-end smartphones that rely on fast connectivity to leverage their feature-sets. With 2.5G a smartphone feels like a brick compared to 4G, but with 4G comes usability and what was a status symbol now makes much more sense to the average Chinese consumer when they actually can use the thing in realtime.

  1. It must be one of the best kept secrets on the planet. As much as Apple has been selling off, I’m pretty sure no one is aware of this fact. Most of the articles I read still claim Android smartphones are just as good if not better than iPhones and cost a whole lot less. The end result is said to be that Apple’s iPhone absolutely will not increase market share against Android. However, they may be factoring in future sales in India where supposedly no one can afford iPhones and all the Indian consumers will be buying $50 Android One smartphones.

Honestly, I don’t know why there’s such a huge difference of opinion about iPhone sales growth. This report goes against most current reports. I would think iPhone growth would continue as long as Apple offers decent iPhone upgrades, offers good customer support and extra services like Apple Pay and Apple Music. Android continues to fragment and at some point I expect Samsung to move to its own Tizen OS.

    1. Tizen always comes up too short.

When it’s time to roll out everyone else has moved on. Since Samsung copies everyone else they can’t think far enough ahead, to save themselves.

Example the curved screen is like deep fried butter. As time point in the process it looks good on paper, but then reality sinks in and you know it’s pointless.
