Apple to hold massive iPhone+iPad+Apple TV event on September 9th, sources say

“Apple hasn’t yet officially announced its annual fall media event, but it’s definitely planning one — and the date is fast approaching,” John Paczkowski reports for BuzzFeed News. “Sources familiar with Apple’s plans tell BuzzFeed News the company intends to hold a special event the week of Sept. 7, with Wednesday the 9th being the most likely date.”

“Like Apple fall events past, this one too will focus on the company’s next-generation iPhones,” Paczkowski reports. “Sources say Apple executives are likely to show off the company’s latest iPads as well, though that 12.9-inch “iPad Pro” seems to be a wildcard, still.”

“Also expected to debut at this event is the long-awaited successor to Apple TV,” Paczkowski reports. “Multiple sources familiar with Apple’s plans say Apple TV is currently part of the company’s fall event. ”

  1. I hope that Apple reveals the mythical iPad Pro. I wonder what Apple’s plans are for Apple TV, especially sports programming. It would be interesting if Tim Cook or some other exec would finally reveal sales data of Apple Watch.

      1. Maybe Apple will never reveal the actual sales data of Apple Watch, then you make up any numbers you want. Better yet, Apple shouldn’t reveal sales data of any of its products. Really, what’s the point?

  2. If the 12.9″ iPad is coming later this year, I would think Apple would want a separate event for it. That alone will be a huge release. No point in having the new Apple TV & iPad Pro share the limelight.

    1. I can’t see that an iPad with more real estate is worthy of a special event. WACOM have been making large graphics tablets for years. So, its nothing radical for the specialist user community and for most others its just a laptop sized screen running iOS9.

Or am I missing something here ?

  3. Yawn… More colours more models still higher prices.. what else are they going to come up with other than thing.. NOTHING. iPad pro, if it happens will not be cannibalisation of their products but a showcasing of their stupidity.
Seriously Steve why did you not take timely treatment for your illness?

  4. It will be interesting to see how precise the Apple TV curation is. For example, recently on Apple TV I have watched some of the 2015 EDC Festival via the Yahoo app and some of the 2015 Lollapalooza performances via the Red Bull app. It would be cool if the curators suggest other live/recorded music festivals to watch. It would also be cool if the Apple Music recommendations could talk with the Apple TV and suggest documentaries or concerts to watch.

I also hope the TV and movie recommendation algorithms are precise. For example, let’s say a user likes, science-fiction movies/TV, some crime-based movies, but very little crime-based television drama. I hope the algorithms are smart enough to see the nuance and not recommend crime-based television drama, unless it’s science-fiction.
