Look who bought the first Apple Watches

“Ben Bajarin mentioned on last Friday’s Techpinions podcast that he’s been learning a lot about the Apple Watch market — and, by extension, the wearable computer market — by monitoring a panel of early Watch adopters,” Philip Elmer-DeWitt reports for Fortune. “We asked him for sneak peek.”

“It’s from Wristly, the survey outfit he’s working with,” P.E.D. reports. “Wristly has assembled what it calls the “largest independent community of Apple Watch owners.”

“More than half of the earliest Watch adopters were neither developers, insiders, reporters or Apple investors, but simply keen users,” P.E.D. reports. “‘I don’t have any hard data,’ says Bajarin, ‘but I’d imagine this product got more non-early adopters to buy in the launch quarter than any other product.'”

MacDailyNews Take: That is good news for Apple and the Apple Watch. Apple is so strong that they can launch new products not just to Innovators and Early Adopters, but straight into the Early Majority (who usually require the influence of Early Adopters).

  1. Innovator here. Waited 18 days from midnight April 10 to April 28. Sold an WATCH SPORT to a senior psychotherapist who owns a 16GB iPhone 5S (almost full) and a 32GB WiFi only original iPad mini. She has to wait 12-14 more days. Considering the 90+ days of ramp UP since launch, that’s hardly a dent in production keeping up with demand don’t you think?😱💥⌚️😃
