“Ming-Chi Kuo is at it again,” Gordon Kelly reports for Forbes. “The KGI Securities analyst is widely regarded as the world’s most high profile Apple leaker and after revealing 11 major iPhone 6S changes last month, he has now stated users can also expect Apple to alter the iPhone 6 design is three subtle but notable ways.”
“First up Kuo says we can expect the iPhone 6S to be slightly larger than its predecessor. This comes down to the integration of Force Touch (expected to be the phone’s flagship new feature) in the display,” Kelly reports. “Understandably Apple is looking to tie the iPhone 6S colors more closely with its premium Apple Watch options and this means the gold iPhone 6S will be more yellow, space grey will become darker and there will be a new rose gold option – though rose gold may not initially be available at launch.”
“Apple will change the grade of aluminium from the iPhone 6 to make it stronger,” Kelly reports. “This will mean a shift to ‘7000 Series aluminium’ which again (surprise, surprise) was first used in the Apple Watch. 7000 Series aluminium is alloyed with zinc, and can be hardened to the highest strengths of any aluminium alloy.”

MacDailyNews Take: We love our 128GB iPhone 6 Plus units! It’s going to take a lot for even us to upgrade our iPhones this time around, but Apple doesn’t need iPhone 6/Plus upgraders with some 75%-80% of iPhone users still on iPhone 5s or earlier models and increasing numbers of Android settlers finally wising up.

Analyst: Apple’s ‘iPhone 6s’ to feature stronger 7000 series aluminum, slightly thicker for Force Touch – June 17, 2015
My iPhone 5 has been a great phone. It has a few issues now 2.5 years since I bought it, so I am ready to upgrade, but at this point, I may as well wait and buy the 6s if it would happen to make it this fall.
And all my friends wondered why I didn’t buy the first gen iphone 6.
It’s always this way with revised and new apple products. First one is quite cool and innovative. 2nd Gen is not only cool and innovative, they tweek it and add a few things that make it worth the wait.
Except you miss out on enjoying the first version for a year.😱
Yep. And if you’re on a 2 year upgrade cycle, have a phone that looks outdated for a year #1stworldproblems
I have two lines, so I can upgrade every year. But now without AT&T contracts looks like I need to drop a line and pay full price instead.
You should wait a bit longer – next year Apple will bring out the iPhone 7, or maybe even wait for the 7s. I’m sure that’ll have some new features that will make it worth the wait.
Why not get the first release, use it for a year, and sell it to buy the second.
I ran into an old friend Saturday. He says he’s probably going to switch from large android to iPhone 6S Plus in September. Said the only reason he wasn’t on an iPhone already – he uses an iMac at home – is because the screen was too small.😱
Great story.
That reminds me… I needed a new heel for my shoe, so I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on ’em. “Give me five bees for a quarter,” you’d say. Now where were we? Oh yeah: the important thing was I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn’t have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones…
One design change lacking… move the power button up to be across from the mute switch. Being directly across from the volume buttons has been challenging to use with one hand.
One design item that Ive’s team somehow missed! Symmetrically, it is wonderful, but five minutes of use should have shown them the current location is unacceptable.
not in my experience. it’s in the perfect place.
Right, I prefer it where it is.
Only just got my iPhone 6 a few weeks ago so that I could use my Apple Watch (I had an iPhone 4s before).
I won’t be getting another iPhone for at least 2 years – so not really bothered if Apple releases a new phone or not.
I’ve got a iPhone 6 to pass down to my spousal unit to replace her iPhone 5 so I’ll get a 6s. Life is good!
When I buy myself a new iPhone I typically end up connecting it to my “spousal unit’s” plan. I like to buy the new iPhone but sometimes giving it is more fun than having it.
What about the rumoured killer camera ?
Oh please don’t change the gold color!! I love it’s muted yet sleek Champaign color. If it gets yellow like the watch it will be so ugly. Unless they make it rose gold colored. Not actual gold, I’d still like to be able to afford the thing.
MDN, you KNOW you won’t be able to resist!
Explain to me why a “design firm”, as Apple has become, has multiple shades of Space Gray. Was it so difficult to either make them match or name them differently?
Yes the WATCH SPORT offering is DARK Space Gray.😱⌚️😰

Meanwhile, in the amazing world of Android:
Yep, it’s true: Android is the poor man’s phone worldwide
Android’s market share globally is closely tied to the spending power of a particular market and it dominates in low-income countries, a survey of real-time usage has confirmed. . . .
So as long as Apple retains its brand, consumer markets in emerging markets will pay the premium for the brand, regarding Android as a training ground.
Cheap knockoffs.
