“Apple won’t be announcing its much-anticipated subscription TV service next week at its Worldwide Developer Conference, according to several people with knowledge of the situation,” Peter Kafka reports for Re/code.
“The Cupertino technology company has told network executives the planned unveiling will be postponed because Apple has yet to finalize the licensing deals,” Kafka reports. “Industry executives predict Apple’s Web TV offering may not launch until later this year, or in 2016.”
Kafka reports, “Technology and money issues remain sticking points.”

Since the hardware is so widely expected, that may be the barrel content folks think they have Apple over. “We know you’re debuting the hardware to run this. You need content. Give us X or else debut your hardware without us.”
If so it doesn’t appear to have worked. Apple won’t be railroaded. Not as though their current profit picture demands they acquiesce to network and cable doofi.
I think, importantly, the studios won’t be cowed by Apple. They’re just not willing to give away the farm just to be a partner with Apple.
But I am really eager to see this process get under way!
Ok, what about the hardware upgrade? It is time to upgrade an old device and open up the programing of apps for it. Add more features later. The $69 flush of old hardware made room for the new AppleTV gaming and home automation hub.
TV is soooo old, formal and boring… gime us something new and more professional than Youtube. A new language.
