“A fire broke out on Tuesday at [Apple’s] facility [in Mesa, Arizona], home to failed efforts by a supplier to manufacture sapphire screens for iPhones and the future location of an Apple data center,” Tim Higgins reports for Bloomberg. “The blaze, which began on the roof of the more than 1.3 million-square-foot building, caused damage around the building’s loading docks, Forrest Smith, a spokesman for the city’s fire department, wrote in an e-mail.”
“A dozen people were evacuated from the plant and none was reported to be injured, Smith said,” Higgins reports. “The cause of the fire is under investigation. Apple didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment about the fire.”
Higgins reports, “Apple announced in February that it would invest $2 billion to convert the building into a data center.”

A $2B data center? Sweet. What the heck is Apple going to do with all of those data centers it’s been building? Apple must have some serious future plans for content delivery or storage.
I think/hope that it’s for an upcoming iSearch.com domain (or whatever other name) to truly destroy Google.
Simply make it the default on the next Mac OS and iOS releases to iSearch instead of Google and they’ll instantly lose significant marketshare and revenue.
THAT would be thermonuclear….hit them where it’ll hurt the most.
And destroy Comcast as well please.
Rebuilding loading docks is NBD.
