“Apple was named the most valuable global brand in market research firm Millward Brown’s tenth annual BrandZ brand value report [PDF], seeing a 67% rise in brand value to $246.9 billion,” Joe Rossignol reports for MacRumors.
“The Cupertino-based company surpassed Google, which ranked first in the 2014 report, to reclaim the top ranking in the study for the fourth time in the past five years,” Rossignol reports. “Millward Brown explains that its brand valuation methodology is based on three million consumers and more than 100,000 different brands in over 50 markets, with brand appeal measured against actual sales performance.”

MacDailyNews Take: After last year’s anomaly, you;d think Millward Brown would have improved their brand valuation methodology. There’s no way an rational person or measure would conclude that Google was a “more valuable” brand than Apple in 2014.

Take solace, Go-ogle, you’d rank high in the ‘most evil’ brand category.
This “methodology” is ridiculous. I would never deal with such a failure of “marketing firm”.
“There’s no way an rational person”? Or,
“There’s no way a rational person”. Or,
“There is no way an entity or rational person”.
How would you paraphrase that?
Besides that, it is good that Apple inc. is getting acknowledged for the right reasons.
Google most valuable brand! Oh please…😏
Whoever is doing the measuring on this is a moron. As far as “World’s Most Valuable Brand” goes, Apple has NEVER been behind Google.
I find it extremely difficult to believe that Google was EVER on anyone’s list of ‘most valuable brand’. Delusional. 😛
I guess someone is worried by Goog’s ‘house of cards’ frailty. Same with Amazon – totally unreal valuations.
Hanging in vapor. It’s gonna rain hard.
One would think being tops on such a list would boost Apple’s premium to around 17X or 18X earnings. Of course, it’s not going to happen.
Not even a good try at trolling.
I don’t know the methodology used to value brands (which seems like a fairly worthless thing to do, in any event). But you have to give credit to Google for advancing their corporate name to “verb” status – many people “Google” stuff to get answers on the internet. In that respect, Google’s brand has some value.
In terms of what really matters, Apple bests Google in every respect.
Gaagle as a brand is akin to a outlaw motorcycle criminal gang being a club.
When most people see the word “Google” they think of soviet gulags and Orwell’s 1984.
