“The video is worth watching not just for the vicarious thrill, but also to see what Apple provides its richest customers in the way of frills: The Apple Watch Edition charging case (with magnetic top); the Apple Watch Edition cleaning cloth; the Apple Watch Edition booklet; the Apple Watch Edition serial number, embossed in 16-caret gold,” Philip Elmer-DeWitt reports for Fortune.
“I fear for this watch, lovingly unboxed in a six-minute video posted on YouTube Saturday night,” P.E.D. reports. “The young narrater (who apologizes for the tiny lisp caused by his invisible braces) is a guy named TechRax whose specialty is the senseless destruction (with hammer, blow-torch, angle-grinder, molten aluminum, etc.) of Apple products.”

MacDailyNews Take: A beautiful AWE that’s, sadly, not long for this world.
AWE, blowtorches, hammers, grinders, and molten aluminum??!!!
Look away! Look away!
Oh, the humanity!
Didn’t Dexter Morgan like killing small animals…and people? Wouldn’t this be the same?
I don’t think he’s going to do it.
Some things are just too precious.
He admits that he is “nervous” handling it. I bet it’s not even his, but a good friend’s.
Anyway I didn’t know it had a custom boot logo/sequence. I like it.
Its a gamble.. Destroy it and earn 100m vies you can buy 2 edition watch.
You would think that, but I recently heard that you don’t get all that much for views anymore. Very exploitive. He is going to have to give it some serous thought.
If it clicks in youtube and earn 100m views.. Then he can buy many edition watch…
If he destroys it, he destroys it. He’s an idiot if he does, but either way, it’s a sale and contributes to the success of AppleWatch.
Just got my 42mm Sports Watch and it was love at first sight. May you find your purchase as pleasant. 🙂
The Cage
🙂
Or “I hope you relish it as much as I.”
(Balok, regarding “Tronya.”) 🙂
Getting an itchy feeling to order. I like the price bracket on the sport but was wondering its durability. Not much fun wearing damaged goods. Any feedback?
More durable than you might think. My son has a black aluminium sports and he has had no problem even with the black version.
Look at what this guy does to a black sports version before he sprays it gold.
They’re are Apple haters all around, he bought it so he can destroy it, it’s his lost. Look at some investors who only see money and not products yet they have to have both to work.
If he’s already paid for it what does Apple or anyone else care what he does with it?
Got my SSS 42mm. I love it. But I am being very tempted by the GS 42mm version. Of course it is too much, but I don’t know if I can resist. I was thinking, maybe “pretend” that Apple gives no dividends and put a few Q’s of Apple dividend towards getting the gold version.
I would suggest to wait to splurge on the next upgraded Watch. Acclimate yourself to the current first Watch, and enjoy.
The box should be made of mahogany, not cardboard, and the case for it should be lined with a fine leather.
Apple Watch 2
For $10K it should be hand-delivered by naked showgirls.
Where will Greenpeace be when he ruins the watch needlessly as he releases fumes and toxins into the air for fun?
Where will the labor activists be complaining that the Chinese workers slave away just to serve his sense of entitlement and help him get rich through video infamy?
Nowhere. They only complain about Apple not the endless stream of idiots that destroy things for a quick few seconds of video notoriety.
Love how “carat” is mis-spelled
Or “Narrator” is equally misspelled.
I love how you forgot the period on your incomplete sentence. 😉
Not to mention the unnecessary hyphenation of misspelled.
Karat is not spelled incorrectly. Carat is a metric weight for gems. Gold is graded by its karatage. Hence abbreviations like 14k, and 18k.
