New 15-inch MacBook Pro with Force Touch and 27-inch iMac said to arrive Wednesday

“French site MacG, which has a very decent track-record, cites ‘reliable sources’ as stating that a new 15-inch MacBook Pro and 27-inch iMac are going on sale on Wednesday,” Ben Lovejoy reports for 9to5Mac.

“While the site had no specific details, it’s likely the 15-inch model will likewise get CPU and GPU bumps, alongside the Force Touch trackpad,” Lovejoy reports. “MacG notes that shipping on the higher-end 15-inch model has for some time been showing 2-3 weeks, sometimes a sign that a new model is on the way. Additionally, we note that the machines are listed as discontinued on the B&H Photo site.”

Lovejoy reports, “The site had no specifics on the 27-inch iMac.”

“With supply of some Macs drying up, and Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference set to kick off on June 8, many observers assumed that the company would wait until the start of the conference to unveil new hardware,” AppleInsider reports. “But last year at WWDC 2014, Apple left out any hardware announcements, choosing only to focus on iOS 8 and OS X 10.10 Yosemite. Monday’s rumor suggests the company may take a similar approach this year, getting new hardware out of the way before WWDC begins.”

MacDailyNews Take: How soon until we can get a Magic Trackpad with Force Touch?

  1. “How soon until we can get a Magic Trackpad with Force Touch?”

Considering the sheer size and presumed power requirements of the internal Force Touch Trackpad, it certainly will be a “challenge” to make a Magic version. But then, a “challenge” to Apple is…well, nothing more than time and money.

    1. Check out the new MacBook tear down and consider the fact that Force Touch is already in… a MacBook. It doesn’t take up a lot of space or eat a lot of power. Although, I would foresee having to replace batteries more often.

  2. If this happens this week, it will be Tuesday. In the past 5 years, all new “refreshes” not tied to an Apple event have been announced/launched on a Tuesday.
