“‘What does it do?’ That’s the question that anyone who cares about the Apple Watch wants answered” Matt Warman writes for The Telegraph. “There are a host of answers, and while I’ve not yet found one that’s utterly compelling, this is by far the best smartwatch I’ve used. It’s the first where I’ve consciously really wanted to make sure I’m always wearing it and that the battery doesn’t run out.”
“First off, like all good watches, the Apple Watch is a luxurious, even beautiful fashion accessory,” Warman writes. “From the clever magnetic strap to its understated design, it has attracted attention for all the right reasons.”
“Using the Watch as a remote control for your iPhone camera or Apple TV, or to display a boarding pass QR code, which automatically stays on, is clever and feels like progress,” Warman writes. “Even using the Watch intensively, it never struggled to last a whole day, and once made two full days, just.”
“I’m quite a fan of Android watches. Google Now tells you when to leave so you don’t miss appointments, for instance, and is arguably more useful in many ways than the Apple Watch. But some older Nokias did more than the original iPhone. Because they failed to adequately combine form and function, nobody really cared,” Warman writes. “So with the Apple Watch, again, existing functions are rethought and combined in a new and uniquely appealing way. That’s not, however, to say that even Apple fans with £299 burning a hole in their pocket should rush out and buy this first generation Watch. It’s beautifully designed and frequently rather useful – but history suggests version two or three will be even better.”

Can someone tell me how I was able to pay my McDonalds Meal with the AppleWatch even though I didn’t have my iPhone 6+ nearby, like 1200 ft? It worked & when I got back to my vehicle, I had a notification from Amex for the charge.
Please help me understand!
Because your watch has it’s own secure element that is why you have to set up your credit card for the phone and then the watch.. Pretty cool – Huh
Indeed as long as you don’t remove the watch it will keep that capability active as it will many others no doubt. Simple but clever.
The Apple Watch stores your cards locally so you can even leave your phone at home.

Thanks! I thought I had to have the iPhone nearby so the AppleWatch can communicate with it. This is good to know, since this happened by accident.
Bit concerned that you accidentally paid for your meal with it mind, I would be careful about roaming around in BMW car showrooms in a similar fashion.
There will be enough early adopters to get the ball rolling. As always, the growth curve is an exponential one over time.
Those with disposible income will convince themselves at some point.

I stood in line for iPhone 1. I ordered 2 watches at 3:05 AM Eastern Time as soon as available. I would rather have the version 1 and sell on eBay for V2. No big deal. If you don’t mind the cost of small amount of depreciation over the time you actually are enjoying it; then why wouldn’t you jump in on a version 1? Really if selling an Apple item on eBay is too much hassle then Apple watch is probably not of interest to you be it V1…V7 anyway. I love that Apple products not only are lust worthy as new items. They retain their value better than automobiles. I don’t say I want to wait and see if the Ford Focus 2016 has that one feature I am waiting on. Now, I must admit that I bought 2 Apple watches because I want my wife to have one even, if she wasn’t interested. For that reason and the fact that I am no Rockefeller I went for 2 sport models. I can see where I might try to go for the Watch model next time if we both enjoy these current Sport watches. I got my wife the 38mm w/white band. I got myself the 42mm space grey w/black band. I reminds me of the iphone 6 the way it seems to be seamless from touch screen to the rounded watch and finally to the band itself. It really is like most have described. From the pictures, it looks nice. When it is on though; not only does it look fabulous, it feels almost like there is nothing on your wrist. It really disappears from your senses of having something on your wrist. Only if it gets really humid do you notice you are even wearing a watch. Like MDN says jump in. Apple makes the experience worth it right from V1.
