Cult of Mac reviews Apple Watch: ‘Futuristic, fun and fan-flipping-tastic’

“Apple Watch is the most confounding device to come out of Cupertino since Steve Jobs unveiled the iPhone. Is is it a watch? Is it a tiny computer on your wrist? It’s both — and it’s so much more,” Rob LeFebvre writes for Cult of Mac. “After four days playing with the Apple Watch, we’ve found it to be far more futuristic — and far more fun — than we could have imagined. (It’s even more impressive if you’ve tried any of the other smartwatches on the market.)”

“There’s so much Apple Watch can do that we needed two writers to cover it all. Buster and Rob both spent time with their Apple Watches this weekend to bring you this special report,” LeFebvre writes. “They wandered about their various weekend tasks wearing a 42 mm Apple Watch Sport, Buster with a white band, Rob with green.”

“Ultimately, the Apple Watch is a ton more fun than I expected it to be. It’s comfortable, something I’m happy to wear all day, and it does some things — like fitness tracking — in ways that I’ve never been quite satisfied with using other smartwatches or fitness bands,” LeFebvre writes. “As developers get their hands on Apple Watches and dig deeper into WatchKit, we’re going to see more and more fantastic apps and uses for the wearable. It can only get better from here.”

MacDailyNews Take: There’s nothing more fun that being an early adopter of an Apple device. We highly recommend the experience. It’s relatively rare, so grab the opportunity when you can!

  1. Order confirmation received 12:05 on launch for 42 sports space grey with black band. Originally to ship May 13 – 27

Just received shipment notification, arriving tomorrow. Hope this happens for others as well.

  2. Mine arrived Tuesday morning after Sunday afternoon shipping notice. Set it up at the UPS Depot while the UPS service rep with his iPhone 6 watched me. He didn’t even know he was Pay ready via his iTunes CC registration. I told him he better get his order in ’cause he might have to wait til June.😜

Out of he box at 10:30am with I don’t know what level of charge, it ran for 13 hours before needing its first charge. It’s a beautiful work of art and learning to use it is pretty easy to figure out. Any snags are covered by Apple’s support personnel. I needed to call them at first and the Senior Support Rep in Austin TX that took my call not only helped me, but also interviewed me to find out the details of how my setup out of the 📦 went and exactly what were the snags.

Biggest software flaw is that after pairing, the WATCH app didn’t populate with the third party apps list right away and instead told me to pair again. Upon pressing the pair button again, it disconnected the pairing and I had to start all over again from scratch. She was great at understanding that bug and happy I was able to report it. Then after I told her I had the iBook WATCH Manual, she emailed me the url for an alternate PDF manual Apple is also publishing:

“Here are the links we talked about:

Plus she gave me her direct phone number+extension so I can report back to her future thrills & snags. Awesome Applecare support! 💥👍🎉😃
