6 months later, iPhone 6 and 6 Plus still draw long lines in Hong Kong

“If you were to line up all the iPhone buyers in China and march them into Apple stores, the line apparently would never end,” Patrick Seitz reports for Investor’s Business Daily.

“Six months after the launch of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, those smartphones are still attracting long lines at Apple stores in Hong Kong, Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Brian White reported Monday,” Seitz reports. “‘The two Apple retail stores we visited in Hong Kong were jam-packed over the weekend with consumers waiting in long lines to purchase the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus,’ White said in a research report. ‘At one of the Hong Kong stores, the line began outside the Apple store and wound around the inside with an estimated wait time of 1.5 hours to 2 hours, while the other Apple store in Hong Kong had an estimated wait time of over an hour.'”

Seitz reports, “The iPhone 6 series phones launched in Hong Kong on Sept. 19 and in mainland China on Oct. 17.”

  1. Some reports show iPhone 6/6+ in and out of stock around China.

In fiscal 2011 Apple sold more iPhones in the March quarter, than it did in the preceding December quarter. In fiscal 2012 Apple sold nearly as many iPhones in the March quarter, as it did in the preceding December quarter. Are we going to see results similar to the above this March quarter? Along with Samsung, Google mobile advertising takes a significant hit, as those “switchers” will come from those most likely to buy online.

  3. Okay, today’s performance question. We are hearing all the great numbers for the opening of Fast and Furious 7. Awesome numbers. So, how does this compare to the Apple iPhone 6 opening weekend? Inquiring Minds want to know.

  4. Never would I line up for 1-2 hours even for an Apple products, Thankfully in India the rush subsides after a week for the apple products and then it is walk in and walk out with the product.
