“Apple appears to have acquired popular music plug-in and effect maker Camel Audio, based on information found on corporate registry site Companies House,” Juli Clover reports for MacRumors. “Camel Audio’s address has been updated to 100 New Bridge Street, which is Apple’s London address, and the company’s sole director is now listed as Apple lawyer Heather Joy Morrison, suggesting the company is in the possession of Apple.”
“Camel Audio is known for its range of plug-ins, synthesizers, effects, and sound libraries, which were available via the company’s Alchemy software,” Clover reports. “Camel Audio first shut its doors on January 8, 2015, removing all access to its software from its website. At the time, the company did not divulge why it had suddenly ceased selling its content, but Camel Audio fans speculated about a potential takeover.”

Just downloaded a free distortion plugin from them the other day. It’s not a bad plugin….hopefully they will use this stuff in Logic Pro X and Garageband for iPad.
Down vote me all you want, is Apple letting Logic Pro and FCP wither on the vine like they are letting Server wither?
Since 98% of Apples customers don’t use Server or other Pro apps, does Apple really care about these customers?
Maybe it is just me, but this sounds like the exact opposite of abandoning Logic Pro customers, at least.
Your comment is not misguided, but you are stuck in the pre-2010 apple, when they actually had FCP server. It is known that they killed that for 5 years. Apple has made significant improvements to both Logic and Final Cut Pro. FCPX no doubt had a rough start, but go to fcp.co and you will see the fan-base strength it has. You might think they have stepped out the pro arena, but i would say they have kept one foot in and one foot out. They may develop a server strategy one day…but I think when they let something die from a pro standpoint, they usually have teamed up with someone to help with that. Color was lost, but Resolve has had a good combo with FCPX. This new photos app might see a similar thing with the API’s developers might run with.
Fix iTunes Normalization. Current one hasn’t worked well in years and Apple really doesn’t give a Samdung/GoogleAss about it. I will still request it as many times as possible on Apple Feedback page. 😉
I have a huge chip on my shoulder about Server. The past two years of upgrades have made life progressively worse for me at work. Mac Server use to be rock solid, set it and forget it. Now it is constant nightmares.
Uh Oh, Apple gives not a shit for previous customers of companies they own.
I have a number of completely useless Eikon USB Fingerprint readers rendered useless by Tim Cook’s Apple. They shut down the company, made support self service ( a download page- now gone) and then broke support when Mavericks shipped.
Users had to choose between upgrading the OS or keeping the highly valuable fingerprint hardware and software. As AuthenTec had previously bought up the other maker of SW for such devices on a Mac- there is/was nowhere to turn to.
It would not have been a BFD to update the drivers to work with Mavericks for the benefit of customers, yet Apple chose to eff them over.
