Steve Jobs’ widow Laurene Powell Jobs moves on as she vacations on Jobs-designed ‘Venus’ yacht with former DC Mayor Adrian Fenty

“More than three years after Steve Jobs passed away, it seems that his widow Laurene Powell has found love again,” Lydia Warren reports for The Daily Mail. “The 51-year-old billionaire business exec was seen enjoying a Caribbean vacation with former Washington D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty, 44, this weekend. The pair looked at ease as they laughed together aboard a luxury yacht from the Cayman Islands, cooled off in their swimsuits and got close on the sun loungers, before sharing a meal with friends. The couple was first rumored to be dating in the summer of 2013 but these are among the first photos of their budding romance.”

“Powell was left widowed after Apple founder Steve Jobs passed away, aged 56, from complications from pancreatic cancer in October 2011. They had three children together and Powell is also step-mother to Jobs’ daughter, Lisa Brennan-Jobs,” Warren reports. “Fenty, mayor of Washington D.C. between 2007 and 2011, formally announced his separation from his wife of 15 years, Michelle, in January 2013. They also have three children together.”

“Sources told the Washington Post that summer that Fenty and Powell started seeing each other around the same time, but there is no suggestion that Powell had anything to do with the separation,” Warren reports. “It is believed the two met at a Houston education conference in 2011 and bonded over school reform; Powell is the founder of Emerson Collective, which advocates for education reform, among others, while Fenty’s focus during his mayorship with education. The following year, Fenty joined the board of College Track, a non-profit program for underserved students wanting to go to college that was co-founded by Powell.”

Emily Heil reports for The Washington Post, “Fenty was dating Powell Jobs in August 2013, and we last caught sight of the power duo when they appeared together at the French Open in Paris back in June.”

“With a jet-setting lifestyle like that, we can only imagine the former Hizzonor, now a consultant to various education-tech companies, doesn’t miss the grind of city council meetings,” Heil reports.

      1. Same. Botvinnik and I may never agree on anything again, but on this … this sort of tabloid shit has no business being printed, let alone being treated as news by Apple sites.

She was married to Steve, ’til death did they part. She has every right to move on, and every right to do so with respect to her PRIVACY. Exploiting her as clickbait is disrespectful, both to Steve’s memory and (more importantly) to her as an individual.

    1. Like ottawamark, I agree with botvinnik (one of those rare time all the factions on MDN seem to be in agreement). Let Jobs’ widow alone. She deserves to have a life, along with her billions.

Besides, they both look pretty hot in their swimsuits, and it’s not like either one is robbing the cradle…

  1. I would be so happy if MDN would follow the high road and adopt a policy of not posting anything about Laurene Jobs unless it is directly related to Apple, Disney, or another business in which Steve had an interest (and that does NOT include pictures of her on his yacht).

    1. If that wife had been a visionary genius who during her life profoundly changed the world, then the man would likely have received similar attention.

For example, if Margaret Thacher had died while PM of UK, or shortly after that, and three years later Dennis Thacher got himself a girlfriend, the volume of UK tabloid press coverage would have been ten times what we’re now seeing of Lauren Jobs.

      1. You really don’t understand the UK tabloids to post that. Women having new love interests are a big deal to the red tops, men not so much. He’d only get a mention if he went completely off the rails and slept with several women a week for quite some time.

  2. I second the sentiment that she be left alone. While it may seem like yesterday, the fact is that it has been several years since Steve died and you’d be hard pressed to find anyone — even the most judgmental A-holes — who would question if “enough time” has passed for her to move on.

  3. It’s the Daily Mail, expect nothing less from this racist right wing rag.

This is the same paper that famously defended the Nazi’s before WWII and is infamous in the UK for its hypocrisy and lies.

I once found an old copy of the Daily Mail, put it in my cats litter tray and it shat on the floor. Say no more.

    1. The yacht belongs to her now. What exactly is she supposed to do with it? Are you saying that introducing Mr Fenty to the kids would be “no class” because they were Steve’s kids?

I have more shocking news for you … many people who are widowed establish new relationships, and often get married and yet live in the SAME HOME as they did with their former spouse, and sleep in the SAME BED!! Truly shocking!!

Anyway, yes MDN this is of no interest to readers (I came here for the comments) and the Daily Mail is one of the worst sources possible (speaking of “no class”). Don’t be like them.
