“CNNMoney gave two nursery school classmates a brand new iPad Air 2 and let them loose in our studios for a (very) non-scientific stress test,” Erica Fink reports fro CNNMoney.
“Good news for iPad owners: You can literally throw the device from the top of a 12-foot staircase and see it survive,” Fink reports. “(A note: CNN’s newsrooms have a thin layer of carpeting, but the iPad endured nearly a dozen such plunges.)”
“How might Siri react if held down for minutes at a time? How does the LCD display do under the sole of a Spiderman Stride Rite? And most perilously, how does the anodized aluminum case do when dropped many, many times?” Fink reports. “The answer: very well.”

It looks like it was put together by an intern. The story is meant to be cutesy and fluffy. Not really sure it’s worth putting on MDN.

It’s a bit stupid encouraging kids to throw iPads on the floor – just for the sake of rubbish video.
If it were my child and had learnt to throw iPads around during daycare I would be more than a little pissed.

You thought wrong about the Al Whatever web site I was browsing but that’s to be expected, the “aim for Bin Laden hit Saddam Hussein” guidance system, as popular as it may be has actually increased global security for broad sides of barns.
I think if CNN (the website I was browsing, and you can tell by the link I made) wants to use toddlers to test Apple iPads, that’s up to them. I have an opinion on the subject of using children as testers and I think I made it quite clear through the Youtube video I posted. Quite clear of course for those of the civilized free world endowed not only with intelligence, but a sense of integrity and morality lacking on other less fortunates parts of the globe.
Thanks for the post, keep working on that aim.

The last archives I have read are from 2002 (makes me want to go back and check out my first posts) so that’s 12 years, heck can’t even use the “well close to two decades clause” so I’ll grant you that, I’m an asshole.
There you go, finally a hit. Doesn’t mean much of course insofar as name calling cause being called an asshole is a far better thing than whatever name one can dream up for those who who threatened to do harm to children, threaten to sexually abuse someone’s mother and threaten to “cut” someone’s mother’s throat.
To the point, a toddler is a toddler, just as an asshole is an asshole just as a whatever is a whatever.
A toddler doesn’t remain as a toddler, most evolve beyond that stage of cognition. An asshole does not necessarily evolve to another stage of cognition, but can. Now a whatever, well frankly I’ve seen and read and studied all about the cave people, but I’ve never seen the whatever of a civilized people go back into the cave.
So that’s pretty novel, and as it follows the whatever toddlers will move towards the guidance that they have been given them.

You bring up a good point, anyone else know the inception of MDN? That would be a good tidbit of info. Hmmmm trying to think which computer I owned then.
I could have saved them the trouble. My 4 year old “owns” our iPad Air. Turns out it’s perfect for her. She’s really very expert with it, and it’s durable enough that we only need to keep a minimal lookout for damaging abuse. Meanwhile, she’s learning quite a bit about the world through it, as well as becoming proficient in using modern digital technology.
Neat story, I had bought my very young grandchildren iPads when they first came out, it was amazing how natural, intuitive and how quickly their mastery of operating one was.
