Apple today released iOS 8.1.1 which includes bug fixes and increased stability and performance improvements for both the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4s.
iOS 8.1.1 is available immediately as an over the air (OTA) update or as a download from iTunes.
If your device does not have enough space, you need to connect to iTunes, back up your device and delete data from your device to make space for the update.

Apple today also released Apple TV 3 version 7.0.2 which includes general performance and stability improvements.

I hope it fixes the sleep issue I have. I have a new 🍎TV but if I have it sleep it requires a reboot to view anything longer than 15 mins. It just shuts down the video. Does not matter if it’s streaming from the server or Apple.

Yep. I can’t pin point when it happens, but you may be right. on the 15 minutes. Seems to not just be long videos, though, but after 15 minutes of use. For example, hopping from YouTube video to YouTube video eventually cuts off, too.
I too have been experiencing this issue. It drives me nuts. If I pause video for more than about 15 min., I come back to find the UI displaying the home screen after waking from the screen saver. It’s a pain to have to click through multiple windows to get back to where you left off. Not very Apple-like at all….
Similar problem with my new ATV 3 hardwired to new ATC. Restart ATV3 helps, if not, then cutting ATV3 power for 30 seconds and reconnecting. This solves my “stuck on loading” situation EVERY time.

It’s really nice to see that Apple still cares about users of the 4S. Unfortunately, my 4S is in the mail back to Verizon for trade-in credit.

I’m doing the same. Didn’t know until too late that the trade-in was only for Verizon Store credit, or to use for paying your Verizon bill. Kind of like a trade-in for ‘Verizon dollars’.
Cool. I finally upgraded my iPhone 4S last week to iOS 8.1 along with all 3rd party updates.
Phone acted great with just split second delays compared to iOS 7.
Will wait a few days on 8.1.1 and see how the tech reviews are. If indeed faster for the old equipment then that is fantastic.
Not sure what all the other people with iPhone 4S are doing to have their phone be a slug or crash prone.
My 4s has been noticeably pokier with iOS 8 as opposed to iOS 7. Hoping this update fixes it. If it doesn’t, I’m not too concerned. I’ll be getting a 6 in December. Go AAPL.
Ever since putting 8.1 on my iPad 2, it has been so slow that I’d call it “nearly unusable.” Hoping 8.1.1 will restore it to usability.
I can confirm that 8.1.1 is safe for update on iPhone 4S and does indeed speed it up.
Now I can totally see that my last year with iPhone 4S before I will upgrade it with iPhone 6S is going to good.

I’m hoping that Apple bring out another smaller model next year with the 6S devices. As I heard John Gruber say the other day “it’s not that the iPhone 6 is too big, just that it’s too big to be the smallest model”.
I can wait another 12 months I think, and then an iPhone “Air” will be mine 🙂
I second “derss” on both accounts. iPad 2 MUCH improved with iOS 8.1.1 (keep it coming Apple!). iPhone 4S definitely better, but if I had to choose, the iPad 2 benefitted more.
You just don’t get this kind of service with Microsoft or Android.

Agree with many others. Just updated my old iPad 2 and wow. Much better. Kudos to Apple for not forgetting the iPad 2 with iOS 8.
