      1. Marketing guys should be shot!!! WTF does “It’s been way too long” have to do with anything they announced today?? I’ve been waiting waaaaaaay too long for an Apple TV update and I’m pissed right now.

    1. Bloggers already logging in. Their comments are so totally clueless that its laughable. i would be concerned that average people would get the wrong idea about Apple items except:

It seems that the average person does not read idiot blogger anal…ysts. They just buy either cheap BOGO android (cool, cheap is important when you keep losing or dropping phones. LOL) or Apple gear. And the new mac mini for 499. I want one. (Actually with continuity I may get one instead of updating my MBP 2011.) Hmmmm, actually sounds like an idea. 🙂

  1. The only problem I have, if you can call it that, is that I have new enough stuff that there won’t be any real tech envy. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want Apple standing still by any stretch… there’s just nothing I’m going to want.

  2. If this is about bringing down the despotic cable TV satrapies, crushing them underfoot in an agony of electronic blood-letting, I’d pay to see that.

But if it is a typical humdrum product introduction, to be nevertheless followed by massive sales, I’m OK with that too, however yawn-inducing the spectacle.

  3. HBO
    CBS
    Hulu (NBC, ABC, Fox)
    Netflix

It’s the death of the evil, customer abusing cable companies. I could not be happier! 😀

Next up: Getting the abusive stranglehold of crap ISPs off customer’s necks. Kick their ass into submission FCC! Or we’ll kick YOUR ass! Got that Mr. Wheeler?!?!?!

    1. Although in a pirating manner, this has been going on behind the scenes for a while. Not to promote Android here, yet maybe to express where piracy is happening, nevertheless, apps like showbox and droidtv have been offering movies and television shows up-to-date for those not on cable or satellite. Hence the death of those evil abusive cable co’s has been quietly done far before Apple.

Here, finally, because its been way too long, Apple will offer to the masses, subscription, pay as you go; entertainment to our devices – without the need for cable companies. But more importantly, as it was with mp3s and music seen on the iTunes store — a fee and legalization that by-passes the cable providers with the content we consume.

      1. Although in a pirating manner, this has been going on behind the scenes for a while

        *Feigning Ignorance* Oh really? Hmm!

Seriously, I could probably dig up a dozen different ways, programs, websites, for watching copyright violating media. At long bloody last allowing what the customer DEMANDS: A la carte media, is clearly going to cut down on the incentive to grab or stream ripped stuff.

As Apple TV dives into this new well of wonderful, I certainly am going to be enjoying it all.

        1. Thou accuses me – of pretending to not use or be effected by the state in which others freely offer services and content for the world to suck on? Excluding you though – hahaha!

          I buy plenty from iTunes.
And I do admit that I have several times removed the DRM so I can burn it to DVD. I’m so breaking bad.
However, I do not post or rely share the content I have purchased. I can download YouTube videos and strip off the video portion and keep the audio… again, that doesn’t make me the one who pirates. If I was unable to do so, I wouldn’t, So yeah, theres a extremely thin line as to where it effects me. I am sure you are too. Boo ha ha ha…

All-in-all, the WELL runs deep – and a more powerful A8 M8 AppleTV would be very welcomed.

Lets all enjoy the love of our Apple TVs.

        2. You broke DRM?! Bravo. I’m sick of the stuff. Backing up media is Rule #1. Baloney on DRM. –No Apple TV at the Apple presentation today. I’m just beginning to sort out what they might have snuck into the Apple Store anyway. It’s still sort-of offline.

        3. The browser itself, temporarily downloads content which is not yours, by which you know well sits on your hardware. You need no other software actually – just the knowledge – and I am sure you know very well how already.

“Getting the abusive stranglehold of crap ISPs off customer’s necks. Kick their ass into submission FCC! Or we’ll kick YOUR ass! Got that Mr. Wheeler?” – talk and attitude of a real rebel

          Go get them Derek.

        1. I haven’t seen Gotham yet. But I am currently enjoying the DVDs of an oldie show I loved in the 1970s called ‘Search’ (aka ‘Probe’). It’s about a computer surveillance company with super spies wearing super surveillance gear, including a tiny camera, microphone, GPS, IR detector… created by the great Leslie Stevens of ‘The Outer Limits’ fame. And the guy in charge of the computer lab is Burgess Meredith (who was the original TV Penguin, famous for his manic characterizations). So maybe his manner and lingo rubbed off on me this week. I tend to be a chameleon.

      1. The big boys aren’t going anywhere. They’ll just move the money from the left pocket to the right pocket. Those who can’t understand this will be wishing and hoping forever for something that won’t come. Penguins, ducks, walruses etc.

  4. The Colbert bit was amusing but a bit long… We really don’t need this long of a demo for continuity when most of it is comedy.

The continuity feature is extremely cool, though.

    1. Stephen Colbert probably demanded more air time before agreeing to do this. 🙂 And people have been petulantly demanding more pep in these product intros, and more relevance in their celebrities than washed-up music acts. Guess ya can’t please everybody.
