Apple CEO Tim Cook and a team of Apple executives will be holding their “It’s been way too long” special media event today, October 16th, at 10am PDT/ 1pm EDT.
The special event will take place at Apple’s Town Hall theater in Cupertino, California.
It is widely expected that next-gen iPads will be unveiled today along with the possibility of the release of iOS 8.1 which will also flip the switch on Apple Pay, the release of OS X Yosemite which wil usher in a new age of Continuity for Apple product users, new Mac hardware, and maybe even some Apple TV-related goodness.

Although in a pirating manner, this has been going on behind the scenes for a while. Not to promote Android here, yet maybe to express where piracy is happening, nevertheless, apps like showbox and droidtv have been offering movies and television shows up-to-date for those not on cable or satellite. Hence the death of those evil abusive cable co’s has been quietly done far before Apple.
Here, finally, because its been way too long, Apple will offer to the masses, subscription, pay as you go; entertainment to our devices – without the need for cable companies. But more importantly, as it was with mp3s and music seen on the iTunes store — a fee and legalization that by-passes the cable providers with the content we consume.

Seriously, I could probably dig up a dozen different ways, programs, websites, for watching copyright violating media. At long bloody last allowing what the customer DEMANDS: A la carte media, is clearly going to cut down on the incentive to grab or stream ripped stuff.
As Apple TV dives into this new well of wonderful, I certainly am going to be enjoying it all.

I buy plenty from iTunes.
And I do admit that I have several times removed the DRM so I can burn it to DVD. I’m so breaking bad.
However, I do not post or rely share the content I have purchased. I can download YouTube videos and strip off the video portion and keep the audio… again, that doesn’t make me the one who pirates. If I was unable to do so, I wouldn’t, So yeah, theres a extremely thin line as to where it effects me. I am sure you are too. Boo ha ha ha…
All-in-all, the WELL runs deep – and a more powerful A8 M8 AppleTV would be very welcomed.

I haven’t seen Gotham yet. But I am currently enjoying the DVDs of an oldie show I loved in the 1970s called ‘Search’ (aka ‘Probe’). It’s about a computer surveillance company with super spies wearing super surveillance gear, including a tiny camera, microphone, GPS, IR detector… created by the great Leslie Stevens of ‘The Outer Limits’ fame. And the guy in charge of the computer lab is Burgess Meredith (who was the original TV Penguin, famous for his manic characterizations). So maybe his manner and lingo rubbed off on me this week. I tend to be a chameleon.
The big boys aren’t going anywhere. They’ll just move the money from the left pocket to the right pocket. Those who can’t understand this will be wishing and hoping forever for something that won’t come. Penguins, ducks, walruses etc.
It’s been “Way too long” since Apple gave me a replacement for my 17″ MBP!
I’m hoping for an optimistic update on iPh6 sales to get the stock out of its funk. Otherwise, it tanks post presentation and I’m screwed. A surprise would be nice.
Consider that when the price of your favourite stock drops of buying more. It’s one of the rules of the game…

PS, when ever that happens you have to stop, reset the unit (switch functions etc), and relaunch the presentation. Usually works well for me.
I love it. So much more fun watching Apple presentation…really cracking me up right now. lol

The Colbert bit was amusing but a bit long… We really don’t need this long of a demo for continuity when most of it is comedy.
The continuity feature is extremely cool, though.
Stephen Colbert probably demanded more air time before agreeing to do this. 🙂 And people have been petulantly demanding more pep in these product intros, and more relevance in their celebrities than washed-up music acts. Guess ya can’t please everybody.
And Colbert certainly doesn’t please an awful lot of people.

We know that everybody doing an Apple keynote rehearses carefully, but I was somewhat amused to notice that when Craig was doing his ‘secrecy’ phone call with Stephen Colbert, Craig mouthed Stephen’s lines.
So much fluff… lol. But I love that they’re addressing things (like 8.1 already).
I look forward to downloading Yosemite later (after I DON’T hear of people losing files :P).

From Apple’s Yosemite page, I clicked on the link to upgrade to Yosemite and it says its not available on the U.S. Apple Store. Is this another glitch? Hmm
OK, so there’s a 5K iMac but no corresponding 4K or 5K MONITOR for the MacPro??? Is a monitor more difficult to build than a complete computer?
