MacDailyNews 3.2 has just been approved by Apple and the app is now ready for download (pending propagation throughout Apple’s App Store system). The update prevents crashes in iOS 8.0+.
Users who have their iOS device(s) set to “automatic download” apps (Setting>iTunes & App Store>Apps) will begin to see the app updating shortly. Other iOS users can simply launch the App Store app and tap “Updates.” MacDailyNews 3.2 will appear as it propagates via Apple’s App Store system.
If the app has been running recently, we recommend fully quitting the MacDailyNews app and relaunching it:
1. Double-click the Home button
2. Swipe left or right until you have located the MacDailyNews app
3. Swipe the MacDailyNews app’s preview up to close it
New users can download the free MacDailyNews app directly from the App Store here.
To check the version of the MacDailyNews app you are running, tap Settings in the app’s menu and the version will be displayed.
As with many other apps, there is no Android version, nor is one planned.

Share button works on my iPhone 6, but crashes on my iPad Air.
The update is working beautifully on my iPad 3!

A big “Amen” to that comment. I have had problems with MDN ever since I updated to 8.0 during the day which that iOS came out. Using your iOS App, I have been able to read nothing published to MDN’s blog-site since that day until today. I am no maven of the Apple consortium regarding their hardware and software offerings and/or updates, but I base much of my casual advice to my friends and/or colleagues (as well as base my decisions on what would be best for me to purchase with my own personal money for myself!!!!) on both the broadcasts and recasts that MDN publishes, and the various audience comments which these blurbs generate. I would hope that, starting now and in the future, MDN would update its iOS utility ASAP after every incremental step in the growth of Apple’s iOS from here on out.
You guys provide a great service to the Apple/Mac/iProduct consumers and audience by distilling and/or relaying critical info, surmises, and critiques about all sorts of Apple-derived stuff. Please don’t leave those of us, who maintain current iterations of Apple’s products, in the dark with respect to your dissemination of all topics-Apple. It is way too long an interval between any Apple-originated software/hardware upgrade and your App tweaking (in order to make your App compliant with whatever is necessary to be viewed by the current hardware/software modification which Apple provides).
I hope this serves as a “vox publica” and knowledgeable missive— not received as some puerile rant about how pissed off I am that I can’t read the MDN blurbs these past several weeks.

I just updated and it doesn’t crash where it used to. Before I go further, I should say I have not restarted my iPad. Now, when I click Share, the app does crash. Not a big deal but I can’t doing my bragging that Samsung is facing a shake-up. 🙁

MDN isn’t asking you to restart your IOS device, they are asking you to double-click-flip-up-to-quit the old MDN app.
yeah, but the APP isn’t working *even after* quitting the old app. So restarting the iOS device would be the next logical step.
Others can post and use the share button, so somethings not working as intended. A device restart may help… and besides, what does it hurt?

It works from my old iPhone 3GS, running iOS 6.1.6. The “log in” process is a bit odd.
Awesome! Sorry MDN for the harsh emails, when the app stopped working on my iPad 2, it messed up my routine.

Now could you PLEASE implement swipe left to return to previous screen, the most freaking basic feature, instead of expecting us to reach all the way across our new 5.5″ screens in the upper left corner to hit that damned to hell “Articles” link!! Come effing on! For someone to constantly criticizes any company displaying a lack of Apple-like attention to details, the lack of swipe left to previous screen on this app is really unforgivable and annoying as hell. Steve would certainly give you hell for that oversight. Pretty PLEASE.

And MDN only fixed the crash bug related to iOS 8.
They did NOT fix the “<Articles" button on the left of the screen. it still cycles through every damn article until the app decides to go back to the basic listing of ALL articles.
"<Articles" is PLURAL.. does not mean previous Article.
I know "Empirical Development" is the company that is making the App now.. and not MDN itself. But they are REALLY showing their lack of "Apple" design style.

Swipe backwards and forwards (to next / previous article) needs to be implemented, instead of always having to go back to ‘Articles’ before moving forwards.
The (superior) AppleInsider App implements this feature and it works very well.
Come on MDN, try to bring your thinking up to date and practice what you preach.
I could open like 1/3 of the stories without an issue, but 2/3 crashed. I’m glad you got it fixed now.
The only story the “old” MDN app didn’t crash was the Steve Jobs anniversary story.

Still crashing! At least on my iPhone 6 Plus it does. Also, I thought this update would’ve been a great time to optimise the app for the Plus’s screen. Back to the webpage version for now…
Yes! It’s finally usable for the first time since iOS Beta 1. I hate to be picky considering I’m insanely relieved it’s at least working at all, but it would be nice if they would update it again so it makes use of the iPhone 6 Plus resolution rather than upscaling. It’s still designed for the older traditional iPhone 5/s resolution. Thanks for updating it though, right in time. I was so frustrated with it earlier TODAY, actually, that I took the time to write a one-star review before the update was released.
As bad as this app is, it is far superior to the ad-encrusted website.
MDN takes no page from Apple’s book of class. Just read the MDN Take ™. At least the Brand is consistent.
I think the apple announcement “it’s been way too long” applied to this app update. It’s so annoying to use MDN on mobile safari. Finally. No crashing.
The app still has a bug that keeps it from knowing where the iPad is UP.
With power port up and desktop dock on bottom, the new MDN app launches upside down.
You have to unlock the aspect and turn and shake the iPad to get the app to understand that normal portrait down is up.
