Apple: iOS 8.0.2 coming ‘in the next few days’

Apple today posted the following support article:

Loss of cellular service or ability to use Touch ID after updating to iOS 8.0.1 on iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus.

We have a workaround for you if you have an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus and you lost cellular service and Touch ID functionality today after updating to iOS 8.0.1. You can reinstall iOS 8 through iTunes by following the instructions below. We are also preparing iOS 8.0.2 with a fix for the issue, and will release it as soon as it’s ready in the next few days.

Follow these steps to reinstall iOS 8.0.

1. Make sure that you’re using the latest version of iTunes.
2. Connect your iPhone to iTunes.
3. Back up your iPhone in iTunes on your Mac or PC. iCloud backups won’t restore to earlier versions, including iOS 8.0.
4. Download the file below that corresponds to your device:
– iPhone 6
– iPhone 6 Plus
5. Select the file you just downloaded by doing one of these in iTunes:
– Mac: Press the Option key and click Check for Update.
– Windows: Press the Shift key and click Check for Update.
6. Press Update to install iOS 8 on your iPhone.

The Health app won’t work in iOS 8 after these steps. It will be fixed in our upcoming iOS 8.0.2 software update.

  1. Yes. It sucks that this happened. Yet, the world acts as if this shit only happens to Apple.

^ Not only did people CLAP for the BSOD, they spent hard-earned money to purchase it, and CONTINUED to get BSOD for many more years and years and years.

Apple will have this problem solved within weeks or months (tops).

  2. Funny thing is the update was available for an hour until it was removed yet it made news on just about every website on the net as well as the news on TV. If samsung or ANYONE else did the same, no one would even notice

  3. Not surprised with so many problems hitting Apple launch of different hardwares and softwares. These last few years, Apple had to hire so many “experts”, specialists and other geeks coming from some other companies that did not wanted them anymore (Microsoft, etc.) that we can not be surprised with the GUI becoming unintuitive in many aspects, softwares are released with bugs that were/are common to any companies except to Apple. New Apple employees should begin their work at Apple with a immersion into Apple’s culture of all aspects of their business.

    1. I don’t know what massive failure caused this issue, but I’m sure it wasn’t due to the lowering of hiring standards. This is a management problem and that must be addressed properly and definitively.

On an unrelated matter, software and hardware are never used in plural form in English. These words are singularia tantum, or uncountable nouns. Same as cutlery, furniture, clothing, knowledge, progress… While many American lawyers like using them in plural, it is always wrong.

  4. Ok so I kut downloaded iOS 8.0.2 and It didn’t resolved my problems, I have lot of expensive app and they don’t even work! It sucks I love Apple but this have to be fixed fast!😓😓😓😓
