“The addition of a mobile payments service to Apple Inc’s next iPhone could help to boost sales of the larger-screen phones and claw back market share lost to mobiles running on Google Inc’s Android platform,” Soham Chatterjee reports for Reuters. “Apple shares rose as much as 1.3 percent on Wednesday, a day after the launch of the iPhone 6 and the Apple Watch – the first new product introduced by Chief Executive Tim Cook.”
“At least six brokerages raised their price target on Apple’s stock by as much as $16 to a high of $116,” Chatterjee reports. “Many on Wall Street hailed Apple Pay – the company’s new wireless payment system – with Piper Jaffray’s Gene Munster calling it the ‘star of the show’ at Tuesday’s gala launch… ‘Apple Pay is a feature that should help sell Apple products and provide some small help to the bottom line,’ BMO Capital Markets analysts said.”

Apple just managed to simplify it enough for everyone else.
The iPhone 5 came out in 2012 too, along with ios 7. It absolutely crushed the nexus 5 in any performance metric you can name. Battery life, screen quality, processor quality, camera quality, speed tests, game performance, app loading, drop tests, build quality, and os responsiveness. When Android devices catch up to the iPhone 6 we’ll be using the iPhone 7. Lol.
And that’s not counting things like being significantly thinner, lighter and sexier. No wonder iPhone was better reviewed and had far higher customer sat.
Also interesting is that the Nexus 4 didn’t even have LTE.

ApplePay is a long term play. You will need a new phone to use it so it will take time for all to have access. It does tempt me to buy the Apple Watch even though I am rarely a first time adopter.
I’m sure Android phones will adopt NFC but how many users will be stupid enough to use it.

Actually Android users use NFC all the time for a multitude of other things besides paying for stuff. You really don’t understand exactly what NFC is do you?
Also, the Android phones that I’m interested in are on average about $100 more expensive than the latest iPhone. I guess it’s true what you say. Pay cheaper price, get cheaper phone.

Well, I guess I was a sucker because I used to own an iPhone and I very quickly became frustrated with all it’s limitations and things I COULDN’T do.
When I ran out of space, I was forced to choose between deleting stuff or buying a whole new phone just to upgrade my storage. I grew tired of constantly having to open apps to access information that should be at a glance. The proprietary file system is absolutely atrocious and you’re even stuck using USB for file transfers to and from your PC like it’s the year 2010 or something. Not to mention the low res screens. The iPhone 6 is the very first iPhone to be technically considered HD since it’s just BARELY above the barebones minimum of 720p. Meanwhile the Galaxy Note 4 will boast a quad HD screen.
I don’t buy Android because I can’t afford an iPhone. I buy Android because I don’t WANT an iPhone.
From the iPhone 6 onwards EVERY future device apple brings out will have Apple pay in it as standard.
They can’t lose.
