5 million Google Gmail usernames and passwords leaked to Russian Bitcoin forum

“Nearly 5 million usernames and passwords appear to have been published on a Russian Bitcoin forum,” Patrick Howell O’Neill reports for The Daily Dot.

“The database of usernames and passwords, which was first reported by CNews, was posted on Tuesday evening to btcsec.com, a Russian-language Bitcoin security forum. The publisher, named tvskit, posted the following screenshot of the database, claiming that over 60 percent of the passwords were valid and working,” O’Neill reports. “The file contains information on English-, Russian-, and Spanish-speaking users of Google services, such as Gmail and Google Plus.”

      1. That could be the plan. They could be a spam outfit. They buy an old database on the cheap and then offer a service to check out if your on the list. After that, not only do they confirm listed users, they also add new users who came by to check out the list.

All in theory, but that’s how I would do it.

      1. Because, unlike Apple’s web mail client, I can actually paste images into emails and save files directly to online drive without having to download to my computer. I just spent several days (again) trying to be happy with Apple’s webmail client. It just isn’t as capable.

I keep hoping they will get it better enough for me to use, but it just isn’t there yet.

Also, searching my iCloud mail is so much slower than searching through my GMail account.

Further, I can’t use Apple maps or an Apple browser if I am at work where PC’s reign the day. Being able to use Chrome and Google maps and then have that info immediately available on my iPhone is a great advantage for me.

  1. Mine was not part of the 5 million assuming the site is working properly. So now with Predrag we know some will be flagged and some not. I tried a 2nd time to see if it would still come up ‘false’.. Still not on the list. MDN’s take is pitting 5mill practically unknown users vs 100 Celebrities’ birthday suit pics.. I’m putting my bet on the Celebrities’ pics being the larger media coverage.

  3. Why you need to create a new thread and new account? Whats happened with your old thread and account? As per rules, it is 1 thread per site only.
Are you new owner of this site?
Yes I am a new owner, visit the site online play, you can not download.

The graphic is nice, very simple, i like the white color, but i don’t have understand, you is a new owner, but the site is launched 5 february (i see this date like first post in this thread) and later 10 day have change owner?

The previous owner launched this site on July 2015 as announced on this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1105085.0, perhaps the previous owner felt that there were lack of interest so he decided to sell this site although I cant find any auctions about this site.

@OP : since you are new owner, is there any promotions such as no deposit bonus like the previous owner gave in the past?

thanks, i have search manually the old thread but not see because the last reply are to november 2015 .

for the new owner, i think is bet add a nice promo (with all new site) for the user of bitcointalk Grin
