“Apple will likely unveil mobile payments on Tuesday, ‘the holy grail for e-commerce’ and a ‘game-changing product’ that could revolutionize the entire industry, former CEO John Sculley told CNBC,” Drew Sandholm reports for CNBC.
“Sculley, who appeared on ‘Squawk on the Street’ before the Apple event, said the technology giant has long ‘been putting together the pieces’ for a mobile payments product,” Sandholm reports. “‘The most important piece are 800 million credit-card-scored iPhone users,’ Sculley said. ‘And when you combine that with OneTouch for the biometric security, combine that with [near field communication], which is also high security, and tie it in the announcements, which Apple has said they’re going to make with the major credit card companies, major retailers, I think we’re in for something that’s going really game-changing.'”

MacDailyNews Take: We’ve forgotten more about Apple than this sales bozo knows currently. There in zero insight available here, Sugar Water is simply repeating, with mistakes, a compendium of media speculation and mobile payment reports for CNBC. He, like the Walter Isaacson, are merely air-fillers for CNBC.

It takes Drew Sandholm to interview John Screwit in the first place…
I don’t know about everyone else but my live feed is majorly messed up and unwatchable, it appears the transmission issues are from the event itself. Swamped by viewing demand perhaps?
Isn’t it ridiculous! It sucks and that voiceover in the background is annoying as hell
Everything was fine until just as the Keynote (and online mass surge) started, well even as the video introduction started it was skipping all over the place.
Funny how so many of us are probably momentarily thinking it’s just happening to us in our panic to get it working right. I take it as a high compliment indeed of the mass interest in Apple. I don’t know what you could have done to amp up bandwidth with so many people tuning in at once. I don’t think Netflix or anyone else could deal with such intense viewing demand of one program.
I was in Hong Kong, then Tokyo 12 months ago. And they already have mobile payments. Everyones walking around with Samsung Galaxys using touch and go. In fact I was even able to use my Samsung S2 which is 4 years old for some payments. Its not a game changer, its already here. Oh, just to add, the older S3 also came with wireless charging, and that was 2 years ago. These idiots writing these articles must be fast asleep.
Yes, but do they have outside toilets, in rural areas, like we do.
“OneTouch”? Isn’t that the brand of dumbphone Obamaphones that Alcatel makes, that doesn’t even have a decent web browser or App Store? There was one that I saw that didn’t even have a camera built in!
“ONE TOUCH” is the payment system, some call it swipe and go! Like the visa/MasterCard system.
Why are people even asking that ass Sculley anything?
Oh you mean mobile payments on Samsung’s easily hackable, totally insecure Android devices? Exactly what I want to expose my credit card info to. Stupid people…don’t have a clue.
