Prototype 2,915 mAh battery for massive 5.5-inch iPhone 6 seen again in new photo

“New photos shared by Nowhereelse.fr once again claim to show a 2,915 mAh capacity battery from the 5.5-inch model of the iPhone 6. These details follow an earlier Nowhereelse.fr report that showcased a claimed rear shell from the larger 5.5-inch iPhone 6 model,” Kelly Hodgkins reports for MacRumors.

“The battery in these latest photos appears identical to one detailed in a leak last month from Chinese site Apple Daily, down to the March 2014 manufacturing date,” Hodgkins reports. “The authenticity of either part is unconfirmed, but both batteries have markings similar to other Apple batteries and appear to be sized for a larger iPhone model.”

Hodgkins reports, “If legitimate, this 2,915 mAh capacity is a significant jump from the 1,560 mAh battery included in the iPhone 5s and the 1,810 mAh rumored for the 4.7-inch iPhone 6.”

    1. To be fair, when you start with four inches, every inch counts!

The 1.5″ delta is a 37.5% increase to the diagonal display measurement and, as iPhones go, I’ll bet that it will look pretty massive. I saw a Samsung Note III in a store the other day, and the rumored 5.5″ iPhone might be pretty close to that size.

  1. That’ll come in handy; thanks to the generosity of my network provider, I now get 6Gb of data per month instead of 1, so I can now stream my favourite BBC radio station.
Of course, that’s now absolutely hammering my phone’s battery, the obvious consequence of having the phone radio running continually for Dix or seven hours.
