Apple today released iTunes 11.3.1 which addresses a problem where subscribed podcasts may stop updating with new episodes and resolves an issue where iTunes may become unresponsive while browsing your podcasts episodes in a list.
iTunes 11.3 includes all-new iTunes Extras for HD movies. iTunes Extras can include behind-the-scenes videos, short films, high-resolution image galleries, director’s commentary, scenes, and more. These immersive iTunes Extras can also be enjoyed on Apple TV with Software Update 6.2 now, and will be available on iOS 8 this fall.
New iTunes Extras will be automatically added to your previously purchased HD movies as they become available—at no additional charge.

• To play 720p HD video, an iTunes LP, or iTunes Extras, a 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or faster processor is required
• To play 1080p HD video, a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or faster processor and 2GB of RAM is required
• Screen resolution of 1024×768 or greater; 1280×800 or greater is required to play an iTunes LP or iTunes Extras
• Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store and iTunes Extras
• Apple combo drive or SuperDrive to create audio, MP3, or back-up CDs; some non-Apple CD-RW recorders may also work

• OS X version 10.6.8 or later
• 400MB of available disk space

It would be great if they released a version that wasn’t crappier than the one it replaces. Oh well. It’s a tradition.
I use the iTunes app Podcasts feature very very heavily (and on my iPad Air); it has been hilariously and blatantly buggy for what seems like forever. Maybe this time they finally assigned a different part-time intern to work on it, but for me it has a whack-a-mole history of new problems continuously cropping up. Its yet another one of those worrisome areas where if Jobs was still around – and focusing on it – he’d be screaming bloody murder and heads would be rolling.
Invoking the name of Jobs makes you sound like an idiot.
All the bitching that ensues after every iTunes update makes me want Apple to just stop doing updates. A lot of people act like iTunes is the worst software ever. Sure, it has annoying bugs from time to time, but is it really worth all the whining?
Well, I see a beach ball each and every time I use iTunes, and it’s not due to lack of memory.
Some of us remember the era when Apple software just worked. We came to expect that level of quality. Increased bloat, increased bugs, and missing features are not a good trend. Apple can and should do better.

Said many times before, divide iTunes into 4 separate store apps, and once done the Store count will be five.
A music store. (to sample and
An iOS store. (to buy your apps running on iOS)
A video store. (ofc for tv serials also)
A rental store. (rental of music, radio subscriptions, movies and apps – like adobe cs)
The fifth store is the App Store on OSX.
iTunes itself can turn into rip/burning software for Music / Dvds.
Break it down Apple, less bloated, easier to fix due to specific functions, smaller to manage and update – plus cleverly done Apple could house all the stores it offers under a shell or umbrella app that basically launches each independent store.

iTunes works perfectly for me now, and always has. I don’t know what your problems is. Maybe you should try troubleshooting rather than assuming iTunes is poorly written.
OK Howie, so here’s a little observation. If you aren’t experiencing problems and are having a whoopee time, good on you… This discussion probably doesn’t offer much for you.
When people express frustration at things not working consider the possibility that it’s because things aren’t working for them and that they are reasoned thinking human beings who have some grounds for frustration.
It’s hard to see how anybody benefits from you commenting unhelpfully on others having trouble.
I need a App Store Update… caught in a never ending loop.
Software updates continue to want to update already updated titles. Once updated close App Store. Even restarting the Mac is no use. On reopening the Apps just updated want to be updated again. Ugh. Fix this Apple or help me to solve my issue.
I don’t think they will ever get the Podcasts App with or without iTunes sync, etc., working correctly. I am embarrassed for them…
