Buffalo Bills coach Doug Marrone says his Microsoft Surface tablet ‘didn’t work’ for portion of game

“The NFL has permitted teams to use Microsoft tablet computers during games this season, primarily for studying pictures taken before and after the snap,” Mike Wilkening reports for NBC Sports.

“However, Bills coach Doug Marrone was apparently without use of a tablet for at least some of Sunday’s Hall of Fame Game,” Wilkening reports. “After the Bills’ 17-13 loss to the Giants, Marrone indicated his tablet wasn’t operating in the first two quarters, per ESPN’s Mike Rodak.”

“‘I was told mine was going to work, and mine didn’t work,’ Marrone said afterwards, according to audio from WGR 550 AM in Buffalo,” Wilkening reports.

  1. This is the fault of the NFL for accepting a payoff from Microsoft to make Surface the exclusive tablet for use in NFL games.

People need to stop being so greedy and consider the consequences. Instead of taking payoffs, choose what will work best.

    1. I’m not sure they’re exclusive, because many teams still use the iPad for the IMPORTANT job of making sure the teams have all the current plays in their electronic play books.

Microsoft just wanted an excuse to plaster the “Surface” logo all over the place.

      1. The NFL doesn’t allow so much as a pencil on the field without being paid a bribe, er, advertising money for the privilege of being seen on the field and by TV watchers.

The official do-hicky of the NFL . . . because they only use the best! 😳

  2. Microsoft’s table collection grows… The Surface RT, The Surface, Surface Pro, and now, The Surface Halftime, cuz isn’t halftime when you take a break from doing what you’re supposed to be doing?!?

  3. If your livelihood from your game or your plane relies on tablets, you damn well better have not only the most reliable, but you MUST have a backup for the time that comes when someone steps on it.
