When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

    1. Sadly a vast proportion of our nation have no idea what Independence Day is! A nation of dumbed down morons firing fireworks in to the sky, getting drunk, and celebrating “being great”. Our forefathers turn in their graves…

  3. Well said boys, well said. Yes, we are very thankful for those who suffered and even were killed for us! They believed in what they were doing. It gives me a great sense of responsibility to work hard for the USA. May God bless us all (His blessings also for all our non Americans here, but today is our celebration of independence).

  4. May our future elected officials better exemplify the leadership of the founding fathers, and be humble trustees of our welfare instead of craven tools of hidden power brokers.

  5. The Fourth of July is the worst day in the year for me, because the fireworks give me flashbacks, and the yokels in my neighborhood set them off for nearly a week.

    I really don’t understand this custom, of showing our love for our country by blowing it up. Fourth of July explosions would be a great cover for local terrorist attacks, since they would sound the same, so either the government is stupid to permit them, or there the terrorist threat is only propaganda.

    I refuse to live my life in fear, no matter what the Homeland Security says. They have a vested interest in me being afraid. I am not afraid, but I am frazzled and hungover from trying to avoid flashbacks.

    I just wish people would leave me alone with all those explosions for which I have to medicate myself and hide. I am not a veteran, but I am sure there are a lot of veterans to get flashbacks from what sounds like gunshots I’ll over the place.

    Fireworks are fine in public displays, but I think they are very dangerous and residential neighborhoods where most houses are made of flammable wood, and where there is no refuge from the torture.

    Everyone is going to boo me down, but I just want to live my life in freedom, security, and peace.
