Hon Hai, Pegatron on China hiring spree for next-gen iPhone assembly jobs

“Hon Hai Precision Industry will recruit over 100,000 people in mainland China to produce the newest iPhone from Apple Inc, Taiwan’s Economic Daily News said, in what the report called the firm’s largest single hiring spree in China,” Michael Gold reports for Reuters.

“Fellow Taiwanese contract manufacturer Pegatron Corp will expand its workforce in one mainland factory by 30 percent,” Gold reports, “also in response to expected high demand for the new iPhone, Economic Daily News said on Monday.”

    1. One thing that is never mentioned, is this number additional to existing workers or does this statement imply that the existing workers will be topped up to 100,000?
      Just wondering since statistics can be extrapolated in many, interesting and unexpected ways to prove a point.

      And Oh! before some of you try to squeeze your views down my throat like a foie gras duck, I am not taking a potshot at Apple inc. but rather a shot aimed at the bows of another Gold.

    1. i think i am correct in stating this is non-union labour. few rational manufacturers would place their enterprise into the brutish hands of a unionized american work force.
