“During these past several months it’s been suggested and ‘reconfirmed’ that Apple will fit the upcoming iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 with Touch ID sensors,” Mihai Matei reports for G 4 Games.
“Earlier today the Chinese media has reported that, last week, TSMC has expanded its 8-inch chip plant where the Touch ID sensors are and will be assembled,” Matei reports. “According to these fresh reports, TSMC will produce 120 million Touch IDs throughout 2014, which represents a growth of roughly 233% since last year. Supply chain sources have also indicated that the first batch of Touch IDs will start being shipped in early July.”
“We should also note that, according to the sources, this next generation of Touch IDs used by the iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 will improve the sensor module’s durability,” Matei reports. “Apple has also worked on expanding the Touch ID’s functionality by working on a partnership with PayPal, and come iOS 8, third party app developers will have access to a new SDK that gives them access to the fingerprint scanning module.”

That is one of the reason why I the iPad Mini with Retina and then return it. Plus the fact I was not over impress with the resolution compare to the first gen. All Apple device in the future should have Touch ID it is so convenient .
I keep pressing the button on my iPad mini Retina and forgetting it doesn’t have it. As soon as one comes out with Touch ID, I’m getting it.
