“Apple is reportedly preparing to refresh the iMac lineup next week, though changes expected for the company’s all-in-one desktop are thought to be minor component upgrades and processor speed boosts,” AppleInsider reports.
“According to a report from French Apple blog MacGeneration, Apple will roll out new iMacs at the tail end of next week,” AppleInsider reports. “Beyond the tentative date, the site’s source — who accurately predicted the recent MacBook Air update — had no further information as to what the refresh will entail.”
AppleInsider reports, “Without a big event or announcement, it is unlikely that a Retina display iMac will see release next week. Instead, the publication believes minor spec bumps like processor speed boosts are on tap, much like the recent MacBook Pro refresh in April.”

If Apple’s plans for keeping the Mac lineup fresh don’t go any further than just inserting this year’s Intel chipset, this is a HUGE disappointment. Slow tiny incremental updates like this are precisely why desktop uses are saying that Cook has abandoned the Mac platform and is spending all of Apple’s resources on services and music streaming. LAME!!!
– Haven’t seen any Mac Pros yet at resellers.
– Haven’t seen a 4k resolution display, nor a Thunderbolt display that matches the iMac.
– The iMac and MacBook lineups are continually made less user-serviceable with each generation.
– Haven’t seen an update to the Mac Mini for eons.
– Macbooks are all overdue for updates with Retina across the board.

The whole industry is incremental.. You gonna yell at Intel for postponing their processors a year… This argument has no merit, logic, or reality to the industry, and it’s tired…

Oh yawn. Some Macs run Windows eh? Real news that, for those who’ve been stuck in a cave for the past decade….
Most industrial process controllers (ones I worked with, at least) run on Windows, and remain indispensable for now. No easy way around it, Microsoft’s sasquatch-sized footprints are all over manufacturing. Away from the factory floor, many of us have Windows 7 installed on our Macs (but not Win 8; please.)
Everyone here seems to miss the reality:
A retina iMac would jack the price $400-$600.. At best, this might be an “add on” feature for configured to order..
The iMacs and MacBook Pros w/Retina we’re update this past winter. Macs are on a 10.5-13 month cycle.. Those are only 6.5-7 months old
Macs change physical design every 5 generations
A 4k Thunderbolt would run $2k easily… Who is going to buy that?
Mac Pros have outsold the last 2 Mac Pros 5x.. And resellers? They won’t keep them in stock. Hell, the one I work for has no intention of keeping them in stock because we might sell 4-5 a quarter and doesn’t want $20k in inventory sitting in the store. We’ll just keep to online orders.
The only change would be second gen Haswells, which were incremental
So the question to be asked would be: what exactly needs an upgrade? People keep screaming apple doesn’t know what they are doing, but everything they do is deliberate and with purpose and it’s worked so far. My guess is not one person commenting on here knows anything about supply chain and strategic product cycles.. So freaking impatient… I love their products but good lord.. Reading comments on here sometimes makes me beat my head on a table realizing the lack of logic in people’s demands..

Recently had a serious query from Corpus Christi, never been there, what can you tell me about it?
What can I say, beautiful beaches, lovely scenery, gorgeous women (sorry, but hey….).
I haven’t been there in 35 years. It is the Gateway to the Valley (South Texas), a port town, Navy town, not too far from Houston (but far enough….) or San Antone or the Hill Country.
I don’t know enough to recommend living there, but it might be a nice place to visit (unless you are a beach bum, then you might want to pitch a tent on North Padre).
I would certainly prefer the areas north and west of Austin in my choice for Texas (not counting my Metroplex/rural East Texas dual childhood stomping grounds). More to offer the creative type such as you….I am assuming, although Chorpus, in Texas terms, is not too far from those areas anyhow (just 3 hours. Hell, it takes longer than that just to drive across Houston).
I have a house in Roswell but, strange as it might seem, I’ve never gone east.
