“Samsung has revealed that amidst an reorganization of the company, they plan to shut down their e-book and music stores (AKA Book and Music Hubs), effective July 1,” ENCORE reports.
“Samsung announced the shutdown in an email sent to users of the service, stating that the content will no longer be available after shutdown and advising customers to download all purchased content before the deadline of July 1st,” ENCORE reports. “Samsung launched their various media hubs in March 2013 as a part of an ambitious plan to create an ecosystem similar to Apple’s iBooks and iTunes music service.”
ENCORE reports, “However, even after high profile deals with artists such as Jay Z, the service failed to gain significant traction.”

Well rumors had it that Apple hired Beyonce’s Sister to beat up Jay Z!
Hadn’t even heard these existed. Good job, Samscum.
Feeling screwed yet Samsung? 😆 😯 😆
No worries, more major screwing of Scamscum coming up.
So delightful!
Arr!
Looks like ol’ Sammy is up to their dirty tricks again. To paraphrase an artist I love and respect, it’s like this: “Anything, anything, anything for money, I’d lie to you, I’d die for you, I’d…even sell my Seoul to a Chaebol!”
I guess it proves that droids do not spend money.
Ecosystem ecosystem ecosystem Ecosystem..Samsung is better off letting others handle ecosystem services. It is its own animal–as they seem to have discovered. They can now concentrate on just hardware/software (copying). But this doesn’t bode so well for their Tizen OS which is on the table or off the table depending on what month it is. You’d really think if they were going to launch Tizon phones and tablets anytime soon that they would need some type of ecosystem momentum to jack into. This makes that look a little unlikely now..
Samsung had such services? Gee. Who knew?
I thought it was a huge crickets storage shed.
Wow…Jay Z.
Nuff said.:)
How much of their stuff was DRM’ed, and now not playable/readable? Any? That’s the part I always find fun about these shutdowns.
I would think that Samsung shutting those stores down have more to do with Amazon, and subscription services, than Apple.
Proof of the limits of copying.
If you are going to enter a major market segment, you better have “something special.”
Ha! I want to see how the haters spin this massive failure.
Picture worth a 1000 words
At this rate Apple should be worried about being charged with capital murder.
