Apple averages more sales per square foot than any other U.S. retailer

“Apple averaged $4,551 in sales per square foot of retail space over the past 12 months, beating out luxury retailer Tiffany & Co., and tobacco powerhouse Murphy USA, claims eMarketer,” Harrison Weber reports for VentureBeat.

“In a new study, eMarketer ranked the sales performance of “more than 225 U.S.-based retailers,” out of which Apple topped the list. Unsurprisingly, competing stores like Best Buy didn’t even fall among the top 15 retailers,” Weber reports. “Once again, it’s clear just how important Apple’s brick and mortar presence is for the success of its brand.”

    1. This is so Old news 🙂

Read articles just like this since the iPod came into being !!

      Hoooray 4 Apple vision!!

Like USB, FireWire iPhone iPad iOS Mac OS
      MacBook Air
      Macintosh
      Any more?

      1. No, this NEW news similar to old news, but ought to shut up the idiots writing about the trouble Apple retail is in. What’s amazing is the strength of tobacco sales after of the 40-years war against its use.

  1. What a complete tool that guy. LOL There were so many of them. It’s fun to read them all.

“I give [Apple] two years before they’re turning out the lights on a very painful and expensive mistake. – David Goldstein, Channel Marketing Corp. President, May 21, 2001”

  2. How can this be? What about those mobile phone store’s with all those Android phones in them? I am sure they sell (give away) more crap than even the largest fertilizer store can!

Apple has help this spot for many years now. It wasn’t until Steve Jobs decided to start selling their own products that Apple started to grow. It was one of Steve’s most important decisions at Apple! I miss his vision and leadership.

  3. Likely scenario #17

New retail chief Angela Ahrendts makes Apple stores more spacious, improving customer satisfaction and increasing sales by 20%.

But a 40% increase in square feet and a 20% increase in revenue results in a 14.3% drop in revenue per square feet.

Planet is immediately papered over with Headlines of Doom: bemoaning Apple’s lost mojo, slamming Ahrendts, savaging Cook for appointing her. Investors panic, stocks plummet, cackling bloggers gloat.

      1. Actually….they replaced a three-year old 2.7 GHz i5 27″ iMac (upgraded/ 2TB HD) with a brand-new 3.5 GHz i7 3TB Fusion drive (I lost a disc drive in the exchange….but got over that quickly…).

Applecare is the bomb! My old Mac has an occasional flicker that they had tried to repair twice and another issue before that and they decided I had had enough to warrant a new one.

I never asked for it. Never expected it. Never dreamed they would do anything more than keep my old one a few extra days and figure it out once and for all. That’s all I asked (not demanded) and they countered with a brand-spankin’ new $2,700.00 outfit.

        Dam-mit!!!!

  4. Sorry, that’s very much obvious. It’s simple arithmetic, even without knowing the figures; the number and size of stores, and the profit margin published each quarter, tells you.

    Compare that to Walmart.

  5. I’m not sure what the exact number is, but Google quickly found this,
“Retail analyst Jeff Green believes Microsoft stores have logged sales of $1,500 per square foot on average per year.”

    That’s just precious, isn’t it?
