“Ahrendts is free to leave Burberry this month, having worked her six-month notice period, but the American promised to stay on until the middle of this year to smooth a handover to her successor Christopher Bailey, currently chief creative officer,” Butler and Rankin report. “Remaining until 6 June would also allow her to collect two multimillion pound share bonuses relating to performance over the last few years.”

Okay, ya got me there. But she does have pretty eyes.
Cleavage, or not, this woman’s intelligence is sexy. She has said some of the smartest things I’ve ever heard about modern retail. It is exciting to think what she might build on top of the foundation created by Steve Jobs and Ron Johnson.
So, she is American?
Then, how can she accept “Dame-hood?”

@Gollum: What possible difference does it make if she is American or not? And why couldn’t you just take a second and search her name? If you had, you would have discovered that she was born and raised in Indiana, and went to Ball State University. You can’t get much more midwestern American than that.
I was just responding to what has been posted recently about her. It doesn’t particularly make any difference though. Only, it’s my understanding it’s against U.S. law to hold any title. If it’s just honorary, that’s one thing, however I don’t believe that was reported. I know Reagan was honored with Sir, but he couldn’t use it or accept it, I don’t remember. Sure I can research these things, but I have plenty of other stuff to do and if, by giving me a short simple answer, because you happen to know, then that sure is a help and appreciated. Thanks. I didn’t know she grew up in Indiana. 🙂
She got her honorary Dame of the British Empire along with Melinda Gates, DBE–the only two Americans with honorary knighthoods on the most recent list.
Call me old school. When I have a casual question about some aspect of tech, I take to the Internet forums to see what others think. What Google’s algorithms digest and spew out for my naïve consumption is presumptuous. I’d rather read what my peers think. It isn’t laziness at all, but pure social networking, as it existed before Google became a verb, without the evil commercial leech attached and a secret tracer left behind to dog me for the rest of my days.

It makes a huge difference Ralph. As Gollum said it’s against U.S. law to hold any titles. I’m not familiar with that law, could be that it’s a law that stems from the days of the American Revolution so that the Americans could invade any country that held titles at a whim. I think Britain would come at the top of the list, seeing that there are so many titles held over there.
As that country was born as a war addict, they gotta have their fix. Probably why they have a law there I heard that only those born as American can become president. I guess it’s a bit like the Royalty inbreeding that Britain engages in for their monarch, you don’t want someone who’s got a talent for the job, ya want Uncle Sam, even though he’s a terrorist.
So it does make a difference.
