“On March 27, 2014, the US Patent & Trademark Office published a patent application from Apple that reveals an all-new iPad smart cover configuration that includes a keyboard panel,” Jack Purcher reports for Patently Apple.
“One of the aspects of this design which differentiates itself from Microsoft’s Surface tablet cover is that Apple’s keyboard has been uniquely designed to double as a multi-touch gesture keyboard eliminating the need for a touchpad,” Purcher reports. “According to Apple, a gesture may be performed by moving one or more fingers or other objects in a particular manner on the surface of the keyboard such as tapping, pressing, rocking, scrubbing, twisting, changing orientation, pressing with varying pressure and the like at essentially the same time, contiguously, consecutively, or otherwise.”

This design is best suited to rumored iPad-Pro. I for one would like to have a larger iPad for my desk giving me more reasons to clear my desk from legacy systems.
So basically they just patented a surface 2 keyboard cover?
Does that keyboard cover allow for multi touch gestures?
You can touch it multiple times, if you so desire.
Yes: Ctrl-Alt-Delete
No!… no, no, no…
Apple’s keyboard/cover doesn’t CLICK™
Add a kickstand and I’ll take one! 🙂
Seems odd that Apple keeps announcing new products in patents first and then shipping them later. Oh wait.
Anyone know where a link to the Double screen Mac/iPad is?
I KNOW I saw this, but can’t find it .
That would be MUCH BETTER than a Surface look-alike.
Bottom part could be something OTHER than a keyboard.
i love accessories from apple brand..
