“Oscar winner Christian Bale is David Fincher’s choice to play Steve Jobs in the untitled movie that Aaron Sorkin has written for Sony,” Jeff Sneider reports for TheWrap, citing “an individual familiar with the project.”
“Fincher recently met with Sony’s Amy Pascal to discuss the possibility of directing the film, and told her, in no uncertain terms, that he’d only take the reins of the project if Bale plays Jobs,” Sneider reports. “It helps that Pascal has a good relationship with Bale, following a positive experience on ‘American Hustle.’ The film earned Bale an Oscar nomination during a highly-competitive year.”
“While Steve Jobs is a long way from Batman, Bale has been considered a prime contender to play the tech superhero since the project was first announced due to his physical resemblance to the Apple co-founder,” Sneider reports. “Bale has not been approached to play Jobs yet, as the actor is taking a brief break from the business to spend time with his family since wrapping the role of Moses in Ridley Scott’s ‘Exodus.’ The Biblical epic is expected to have Bale back in the awards conversation.”

I guess some people care about this.
Yes, particularly those who frequent an Apple related news site..
if you say so.
For the few that actually come to this site for Apple news and not politics, yes, this is news.
..that would probably have some credibility if I hadn’t already read countless political commentary posted by yourself in the past. If you are passionate about who might portray Jobs in yet another Hollywood biopic, fine.
Batman playing Steve Jobs—perfect!
Douche Bale to play Steve?! If so, I’ll not be watching.
Of course, this is rant, but understandable Bale came to this not before the guy disrespected the whole crew by screwing the scene for a THIRD TIME.
Bale is a typical Hollywood megalomaniac little shit. Would you allow your ass to be chewed out like that for five fickin’ minutes by a co-worker, and that is what Bale was, while in front of every other worker on the set? Name me another job where management would allow that crap and you’d still be employed?!
He apologized “unreservedly” for this. http://www.theguardian.com/film/2009/feb/09/christian-bale-apologises-for-onset-rant
Perfect for jobs then? Or too much bad language?
Agreed. I won’t watch his movies either.
YES! YES! BALE, BABY! WOOOO! I said from the very beginning that Bale was the man for the job. R2 nails it once again. Unfortunately, that’s the only thing I’ll be nailing tonight.
You could easily find someone in Walmart to play Ballmer
I’m pleased to announce that Tim Cook will be played by the guy who played Gaylord Focker in ‘The Fockers’.
This is VERY old news, like a YEAR old. Apparently someone still imagines Christian Bale could play Steve Jobs. They sort of have the same speech impediment. Maybe that’s why.
Anyway: Recycled news.
Personally I think he will do much better than Ashton Kucher…. I was watched that movie and was quite disappointed!
Never mind! Mea Kulpa, I mistook the name for Christian Slater!
Interesting..So the Steve Jobs biopic folks have decided to go with the actors with actual talent route.
I think that rant was his audition. 🙂
I’ve always thought Bale was a douche, but after seeing his transformation in American Hustle, I think he’s the perfect actor for the job.
I wonder if that gut in AH was real.
I would have liked to see Clint Eastwood play the part with a touch of ‘the man with no name’ (The Good, the Bad and the Ugly) and Dirty Harry. That’s the way I see Steve Jobs.
I doubt Bale will play Jobs as I don’t think he’d do two Biblical characters back-to-back. 😉
I always thought William Hurt would have been the perfect actor to play Jobs. Has/had the look and the same intellectual vibe but unfortunately a little too old now… too bad.
